In Summary:
This book manages to pick up the pace a little from the previous volume, but on a whole the characters still remain a little too flat. As much as it’s nice to see some back-story added to some of the characters, yet Cogna still doesn’t seem all that interesting just because we now know that she is a mermaid. Kirsch is at least a little more promising of a character, and manages to play the role of the stuck-up rival fairly well. Like the first, this book leaves us on an interesting cliffhanger that hints at the next volume moving the plot in an interesting direction, so hopefully it’ll be able to deliver.
