Default [US] List of Blu-ray Releases
As per WTK's suggestion, I have created a separate thread for a list of all US/R1 Blu-ray releases that are now available or announced for release thus far, including whether or not they are native/true HD or upscaled/upconverted from SD sources. Series that have underlines beneath their titles will be linked to their R1 DVD/Blu-ray Cover threads. (Forever an ongoing process) If a thread for a series does not exist there, then it will be linked to its Blu-ray section thread, if applicable. I will try to update this list very quickly and often.

Titles with particular miscellaneous notes will be located below the name, as indicated by a sub-bullet along with the note in bold print.

The list has been color-coded for your convenience:
Native HD | Upscale | HD & Upscale | Unconfirmed

Assume the following when you read this list:
  • Availability
    • Unless stated otherwise, a title listed here will be available at most retailers where anime is sold.
      • Some titles may be exclusive to a specific retailer(s). Misc. note below a title will indicate such a situation.
    • Unless stated otherwise, a title listed here will still be in-print and available to buy at a reasonable price without fear of the title going OOP (out of print). Titles that are OOP/will soon be OOP will be indicated as such.
  • Audio
    • Unless stated otherwise, a title listed here will have lossless audio (DTS HD-MA, Dolby TrueHD, or Linear PCM).
    • Unless stated otherwise, a title listed here will have both a Japanese audio track with English subtitles along with an English dub track.
  • Video
    • Unless stated otherwise, a title listed here is animated at a resolution of at least 720p if animated digitally.
    • Unless stated otherwise, a title listed here will have a video resolution output of 1080p.

Should probably mention that the copy of GITS that came with GITS 2.0 was an upscale.

  • Eden of the East movies (Movie 1, Movie 2, Air Communication)
  • First Squad - The Moment of Truth
  • Nabari no Ou (Part 1 solicited, but canceled/postponed)
  • xxxHOLiC (1st Season)

On that note too, splitting the unsolicited stuff may not be a bad idea (to further down the first post).

Mushi-shi was listed as coming soon too and it will definitely be an upscale.

The Eden of the East movies are HD and I'm assuming First Squad is HD too. IIRC, Nabari no Ou was confirmed by a Funi rep to be an upscale.

It wasn't listed on the latest BD Anime Source as coming soon. Black Cat and Blue Gender were listed as such. Desert Punk had a preliminary release date of 11/23/10.

I meant to say that it was listed in one of those Anime Source pamphlets earlier this year. It's unknown though if they are still planning to release it.

List has now been updated up to WTK and chronoclast's posts.

Hmm, does anybody know for sure whether or not Tsubasa Season 2 is an upscale or if it's really native HD?

What do you think about adding a note on CLAMP Double Feature that it's an upscale even though a true HD master exists?
