Default 2010 Total Box Office Gross

http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=277861

An updated list for the full year. Haruhi and Macross and the like have the same exact totals they had in the mid-year list (note, Macross started late 2009 so its total would be around Haruhi's, which started this year). I guess they were generally out of theaters by mid-year.

It's pretty much as expected. Ghibli is double anything else. Then it's a bunch of kids/family movies (Doraemon, Conan, Shin-chan, Pokemon), and shounen/shoujo heavy hitters (One Piece, Naruto, Gintama, Precure) taking the ¥1bn+ places. Then the otaku movies (Gundam, Haruhi, Macross, Nanoha, F/SN etc) and a mix of other things.

Well if the jump from Eva 1.0 to Eva 2.0 is any indication than it should do much better once it stops being mostly "recap" and being completely all new material.

I am ready Sheryl-sama, dope movie poster.

Oh in other news Seitokai Yakuindomo is getting OADs to be bundled with the manga, I'm seriously hoping GOHANDS are just doing this until they finish Mardock Scramble movies 2 and 3 and than do a full blown tv series. Good way to further increase the sales of the manga though...

Ah, the marvelous advances in textile technology that anime brings about. Clothes that can be almost completely shredded, yet leave skin almost untouched.

Default Amazon 2010 bestsellers (DVD/BD, Figures)

DVD/BD
http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/feature.h...cId=3077057406

Yeah just as expected...Eva/Eva, UC/UC, Haruhi top 5.

Figure/Toy
http://yunakiti.blog79.fc2.com/blog-entry-7732.html
http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/feature.h...cId=3077057086

Not anime per se, but so very anime related given the dominance in the top 10... I find it absolutely hilarious how the top 5 spots all go exclusively to Azusa and her parallel world twin BRS. And then Bake and Luka take 4 of the remaining 5. Only one item in the top 10 wasn't anime/vocaloid/BRS. If you select "Hobby" only, then whatever this is drops out and #10 becomes the Revoltech Danboo Mini from Yotsubato!.

(Also still bitter than Amazon won't ship figures internationally. I would honestly pick up at least one or two here and there if they would, but noooo, bleh. Oh well, saves me money.)

This seems to contradict what I've been reading so far but sankaku just had a list of the top 10 best-selling anime of 2010 and the Koihime Musou series is in the top 10. So, it is selling well, right?

? No, Otome Tairan sold very poorly. In recent volumes, DVD isnt even making the top 100 and BD is not much above 1000. It'll average maybe 2.3k/vol. The previous season did better but not all that much. Koihime is a niche, low-selling visual novel adaptation.

From Suki (blue for BD):
Shin Koihime†Musou *1,663+*1,395=*3,058 (7) (Douga Koubou)
2010/01/06 *2,203 Vol. 1 Limited Edition
2010/01/06 *1,822 Vol. 1 Limited Edition
2010/02/03 *1,702 Vol. 2 Limited Edition
2010/02/03 *1,284 Vol. 2 Limited Edition
2010/03/03 *1,679 Vol. 3 Limited Edition
2010/03/03 *1,261 Vol. 3 Limited Edition
2010/04/07 *1,600 Vol. 4 Limited Edition
2010/04/07 *1,216 Vol. 4 Limited Edition
2010/05/07 *1,318 Vol. 5 Limited Edition
2010/05/07 *1,296 Vol. 5 Limited Edition
2010/06/02 *1,570 Vol. 6 Limited Edition
2010/06/02 *1,392 Vol. 6 Limited Edition
2010/07/07 *1,571 Vol. 7 Limited Edition (one unaired episode)
2010/07/07 *1,489 Vol. 7 Limited Edition (one unaired episode)

Shin Koihime†Musou ~Otome Tairan~ *1,175+*1,253=*2,428 (5+) (Douga Koubou)
2010/08/04 *1,249 Vol. 1 Limited Edition
2010/08/04 *1,319 Vol. 1 Limited Edition
2010/09/01 *1,203 Vol. 2 Limited Edition
2010/09/01 *1,304 Vol. 2 Limited Edition
2010/10/06 *1,111 Vol. 3 Limited Edition
2010/10/06 *1,252 Vol. 3 Limited Edition
2010/11/03 *1,134 Vol. 4 Limited Edition
2010/11/03 *1,214 Vol. 4 Limited Edition
2010/12/01 **,*** Vol. 5 Limited Edition
2010/12/01 *1,173 Vol. 5 Limited Edition

Sankaku's list is either talking about something else entirely or is just horribly incorrect. In general, I'd warn against using Sankaku as a serious source of information about anything ever.

They got that from the Ranking Oukoku list...which according to that one note, is exclusively based on the Tora-no-ana DVD sales and excludes movies. So no, it doesn't mean a lot, especially since things like Durarara are missing.

Heh, it's interesting to see how the back half of that list is so out of sync with the overall national bestsellers. GA? Ikki? Koihime? Even Qwaser only averaged about 6.5k, which while pretty good is far from a big hit and nowhere near #7 on the year.

Almost every copy of Koihime sold that year must have been bought in a Tora-no-Ana. That and it's worth noting that 2010 saw both Shin Koihime Musou and Shin Koihime Musou ~Otome Tairan~ release and presumably their ranking adds both seasons together.

And how misleading of Sankaku - they don't even mention (probably don't even know) that this ranking is just a sliver of overall sales. God Sankaku is such a seriously awful website.

Also, it seems what that list is referring to is Shin Koihime Musou (the second series) and not Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Tairan (the third series).

Still, that seems to be good enough for more Qwaser to be made.
