Ah I guess that explains the sales, then. The other KnKs averaged over 70k.

I'll be really curious to see how the BD box sells. It could easily take the #2 spot of highest grossing BD boxsets behind Haruhi, or hell with its higher MSRP it might even challenge it.

Of course, if Japan ever releases Eva TV on BD, there will be no competition whatsoever.

Well, ANN now has an article saying 25,000 copies sold. That's a rather round number.

Generally the early estimates from Oricon are within 1000, so it should be close enough.

KnK 1st week min: 24,500 * ¥52,500 = ¥1,286,250,000
KnK 1st week mid: 25,000 * ¥52,500 = ¥1,312,500,000
KnK 1st week max: 25,499 * ¥52,500 = ¥1,338,697,500

Haruhi 1st week: 30,559 * ¥39,900 = ¥1,236,900,000

Haruhi eventually did 34,000 (¥1,356,600,000) on the dot before falling out of the rankings. So Haruhi is still the highest selling after one week but KnK is the highest grossing. Granted, Haruhi is still the highest selling BD box for a TV series by a factor of 3 or 4, over Darker than Black. I guess comparing movies (plus the bump from the BD epilogue) and TV series isn't entirely fair.

PS: Isn't it scary when the sales and MSRPs would be difficult to tell apart if you removed the ¥ sign?

50(*,399)

Fall update:
To Aru Majutsu no Index II Vol. 1 did not add as much as I thought it would. I thought it might grab another 2k BDs. Total is 18,298.

Star Driver Vol. 1 is up to 13,371.

Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga nai Vol. 2 got the biggest 2nd week bump, adding 1,257 to reach 23,323.

Hakuouki Hekketsuroku Vol. 2 gets to 11,724. It's actually outsold Vol. 1, ever so slightly.

Yosuga no Sora Vol. 2 is just barely charts again, passing 7k to hit 7,433.

Summer update:
Strike Witches 2 Vol. 5 - 10,192/2,565 for 12,757.

Spring updates:
K-ON!!
!! Vol 1: 42,433 (12 wk)
!! Vol 2: 39,247 (*9 wk)
!! Vol 3: 38,747 (*7 wk)
!! Vol 4: 38,019 (*5 wk)
!! Vol 5: 39,707 (*5 wk)
!! Vol 6: 36,756 (*5 wk)
!! Vol 7: 33,352 -> 34,146 (*3 wk) - adds 794. It looks like it took until the 6th volume for K-ON!! to slow down at all.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Mobile Suit Gundam 00: Awakening of the Trailblazer adds 751/641 BDs and 1,384 DVDs to 139,370 total for all versions.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu adds 1,195 for 133,300.

Kara no Kyoukai does 24,758 BD boxes and 18,974 of the stand-alone DVD epilogue.

So they've just decided to combine both series? I thought they could milk it for more sales if they kept them separate.

Whoops. I think I'm just subsconsciously rejecting the existence of the magic side. Fixed.

It must be a very strong rejection. Look again.

Fixed for real. Maybe I'll just call it "Index" from now on. I like her at least.
