Another very nice Kenshin OVA artwork. I think I may like this one a bit more than the Trust & Betrayal one.

Another gorgeous piece of art from Atsuko Nakajima. Definitely works as a perfect sequel to the Trust & Betrayal art, even though I don't like the actual anime nearly as much.

Brilliant piece of artwork there, and very fitting for a beautiful show such as the OVAs for Kenshin.

It's time to graduate from here. But there's still some business left.

+1. Looks nice, but the Reflection arc was absolutely horrible. Even Nobuhiro Watsuki said it was crap and that he hated the way it ended.. when the creator says its junk it usually is =P This is the only part of the Kenshin series i dont own. I'm tempted to buy this just so i finally have a hard copy of all the Kenshin anime, but it would feel weird to own the only one i really hate from the series on BD, while everything else is just DVD.

Now if they did Tsuiokuhen on BD then i would definitely bite. Thats friggin awesome. Did that ever get a BD release in Japan?
*edit* i guess so. i found this on TRSI
http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/cat...em/92218/4/0/0

now to see if theres a thread here with any artwork for it. its kinda pricy though at 65 bucks. Seems to have some booklets though. I would hope this version was done a bit better than the old 'samurai x' releases. Those had the text removed from the closing scenes =(

Source? People keep saying this, but I've never heard anything to back it up.

He never said that, the fanbase has run wild with a quote from a Q&A done at Anime Expo in 2002. Here is the original quote from Watsuki's Translator at the panel:

Question 7: Why did you MAJOR SPOILER at the end of the new OVA?

Quote:
Answer:Watsuki didn't have any input in it, he let the director run wild with it. If he kept drawing the manga, Kenshin's SPOILER may have happen if he continued the manga, but he didn't want to do it. Kenshin went through so much crap and deserved a happy ending. But he can't say which is right and which is wrong, it's a personal taste thing. For the DVD box for OVAs, Watsuki wrote some comments about the ending. So hopefully ADV will translate it.
A lot of people worked very hard on the Seisōhen, he wouldn't go and declare their work "crap", and although the ending differs greatly from the manga as do the events and personalities, I think they have a fitting place in animation history and I think it's a perfect sequel to the Tsuiokuhen not the manga/TV Series.

Source of the article, beware of spoilers though, I removed them for discussion here: http://www.mania.com/anime-expo-frid...cle_86123.html

But on the topic of discussion here, the artwork is simply gorgeous, that Kimono is just stunning.

Very nice cover, and again a royal treat to Nakajima and Kenshin fans. I hope that she is still on board for the new Kenshin anime.

Yeah, I agree. The events and personalities differ from the manga because it happens a long time after the manga ends. It's not a canon ending (or a very satisfying one) but I for one am grateful for more Kenshin animation.

Although your last comment doesn't really make sense because the events of Tsuioku-hen ARE part of the manga. So how can it be a "perfect sequel" to the previous OVA, but not the manga that it was very faithfully based on? Maybe you mean sbecause Tsuioku-hen covers a part of the manga that is almost devoid of any fun and lightheartedness, Seisō-hen feels like an appropriate pairing because it is also rather somber.

Yeah that's exactly what I meant. Even though Tsuiokuhen is a pretty faithful adaptation of the manga it still is an extremely serious and somber series and the overall tone is very different from the manga and TV Series and Seisōhen (Reflections) really adds to that, it doesn't fit in Watsuki's intended world.
