Default MBS Doroku (Saturday 6pm) Productions' Total Per Volume and Average Sales

Doroku (Saturday 6pm) refers to the slot that MBS prepared for Gundam Seed's airing back in 2002. After Gundam Seed ended, MBS continued to air their mainstream anime productions in the slot. Anime that aired in this slot were expected to generate high ratings due to being aired in a prime time slot on the weekends, and disc sales were also heavily pushed for shows in the slot, unlike prime time anime on other stations, a testament to the fact the slot was not only meant to attract teenagers but also older audiences. After the failures of BLOOD+, Ayakashi Ayashi, and Terra e to generate high ratings and disc sales, the slot was moved to Sundays at 5pm (Nichigo).

Default MBS Nichigo (Sunday 5pm) Productions' Total Per Volume and Average Sales

The standard for success on the Nichigo slot is far lower than that of Doroku, with shows not being expected to generate average ratings of 6-8% and allowing the producers more wiggle room for flops in ratings. Other than that, it's exactly like the Doroku slot in that it is intended to air MBS' mainstream anime productions.

Default MBS Late-Night Thursday Productions' Total Per Volume and Average Sales

MBS' Thursday late-night slot is, simply put, a late-night version of MBS' weekend daytime slot. It hosts MBS' anime productions which don't make it on those slots. Anime in this slot are able to air more risque' content than the daytime productions and aren't expected to generate high ratings.

Interesting, that MBS slot is generally doing quite well, with most shows easily doubling or more the Manabi Line, with several major hits and only one dismal failure.

Technically 3 with Basquash, Togainu no Chi, and Enma-kun. Blood-C is a possible 4th if it doesn't pick up in sales once the story gets going/is revealed.

Oh, and I forgot that MBS opened two new slots on Saturdays in Spring 2011 for Tiger and Bunny and Dog Days. Will make a post for that too. Hm, I just noticed that MBS has opened three new slots for anime since Spring (the new Thursday slot and the two new Saturday slots). I wonder if this is a sign that the increase in anime sales we've been seeing isn't just superficial?

And as a side note, for those interested, Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon will probably air on that Saturday slot in the fall along with Shana III.

Same thing as the Thursday slot except on Saturdays. Newest slot, with MBS green lighting it for new anime in Spring 2011 with Tiger and Bunny and Dog Days leading it off.

Still no Madoka, looks like the bumps it was getting each time a new volume came out have either ended or shrunk considerably. Thankfully we get a running total if and when it comes back and can fill in the gaps from there. We need a threshold down around 300 or so in order to see at least vols 2-3 again. Next week perhaps?

KamiNomi II v1 does 2,266 BDs. Continues the straight downward path, being ~230 less than v6 of season one. Yeah, not holding my breath for anything else to get animated beyond the upcoming OVA/OAD.

Maria Holic 2 v1 is a much bigger drop from season one, getting only 1,358 BDs although DVDs are some unspecified number. But the lowest season one volume was 2.7k and we know DVDs are below 920 this week. Will be really nice to get a >100 list for this week though!

Tiger&Bunny v3 adds 2797 BDs to total 27,848.

Steins v1 does 963 BDs in its 6th week, more than it did in weeks 3, 4 or 5, so it's getting a bump from v2 being released. Again, I can totally see that, I'm one of those people who bought 1-2 at the same time just that week. It didn't rank its 5th week but we can calculate that as 341. Total, 16,225 BDs, no DVD ranking.

Merry v5 continues to be depressing, at only 1,322 BDs. Only a drop of 3 copies from v4 though. I'm guessing DVDs are about 500. Either way, not even hitting 2k anymore.

Lotte v2 does 1,272 BDs.

Hanasaku v1 gets its second week, 1172 BDs. Counting the estimated 710 DVDs (should be accurate within about 20) from last week it's easily over 10k now at 10,430.

DenYuuDen is still going... v10 does typical 1,048 BDs.

Hourou v4 still clinging to the charts. It's not much, but oh well! 1,007 BDs. Slight increase from v3.

OreTsuba v2 drops below 1k already, 988 BDs.

Softenni v2 ranks while v1 did not. 783 BDs.

I honestly expected Maria Holic to do less than 1k because of how low it was on Amazon (around the 800's - 1,000's) for a long time. Then I remembered there were a ton of store exclusives which didn't include Amazon so I guess that using Amazon for a basis wasn't very helpful this time around.

But hey, 1k for a SHAFT show could be OVA worthy. I'm running on blind faith now.

It had 141 BD points, so 1.3k is very typical. Pretty much dead center actually. Some recent Vol. 1 BDs (and an OVA) with 100-200 points for comparison:

1,000 103 *9.7 Shukufuku no Campanella
*,*** 104 **.* Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera
1,342 130 10.3 Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge
1,371 136 10.1 Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi
1,302 137 *9.5 Mitsudomoe
1,601 139 11.5 Fortune Arterial -Akai Yakusoku-
1,056 140 *7.5 Hourou Musuko
1,358 141 *9.6 Maria Holic Alive
1,311 141 *9.3 Shukufuku no Campanella OVA
1,156 143 *8.1 Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu!
*,883 169 *5.2 Fractale
1,522 183 *8.3 Sengoku Otome ~Momoiro Paradox~
1,316 190 *6.9 Astarotte no Omocha!
2,266 218 10.4 Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai II

So 8 to 11 sales per points in this range on BD for v1s in their opening weeks, generally.

Tiger and Bunny Dog Days* Sacred Seven*
Is this slot intentionally original anime, or is it just a coincidence so far? And a matter of Sunrise being behind two of the three I suppose/
