Default [JP] Saki (season 1) BD box

Swore we had a thread on this but I must be thinking of the season two announcement thread (maybe it was mentioned there...). Makes sense to release a BD box of a successful, otaku-targeted, previously DVD-only series before putting out a second season though!

The actual image with proof is farther down: link

Arrgh, I am very likely going to have to buy this. I've been trying to cut back a bit on what level of show I'll buy a BD Box for, opting just for 10/10 shows and some top level 9/10s, but I think Saki might need to be one of the latter. I actually might not have decided to buy it if the second season were announced, but knowing more is indeed coming makes it worth it. Since it's almost guaranteed I'll be importing the second season.

If by some chance they decide to include English subtitles, I'll pull a Strike Witches and import to watch. I'm still amazed it hasn't been licensed yet.^^;

I'll be pretty disappointed (yet sadly not surprised) if they don't take this opportunity to add Quark's Crunchy subs that have been sitting around for, what, two years now? But even if they don't, whatever, the internet will correct that oversight as it always does. It'd just be nice to actually own a BD with subs I find watchable (nothing I've bought so far qualifies).

This set gets added to my wishlist. I actually already own the first half on R2 dvd, but rather than finish it on dvd it'll probably cost not too much more to just get this bd set, so I can probably justify a preorder in my budget.

I really hope they will. This is a series I really like. I would buy it if it includes subs. We never know, we can hope. If only they could add subs to more releases, it would be wonderful.

Thanks to the advertisement of the new anime, I began to save for this and Toradora! in BD form. Can't wait until we get a confirmed date!

Has any mah-jong centric anime series ever been licensed for R1? I assume people knowing or understand mah-jong (well, basic rules as the Japanese rules are bizarre as fuck) is a small niche among US fans.

Bah...I need to get around to watching this show. Depending on the release date, maybe I can pick it up and watch this instead.

Knowledge of Mahjong is absolutely not a prerequisite for watching Saki.

Appreciation of the beautiful relationships formed between girls, however, is.

I don't think so, but then, it's not a super prolific genre either so the sample size is kind of small.

Don't worry, it's a small niche among Saki fans too. =P Doesn't have any impact on enjoyment of the show. They could have been paying Calvinball or Igo-Soccer for all I cared, it was awesome.

Well, one can enjoy, a little more, the game playing part of Saki if you do know mahjong. But, what I asking was more in general than about Saki specifically.
