Anime Sales in Japan - 2011

Monthly lists. Only additions here:

AnoHana v1 BD +654, total 45,356.
Tiger & Bunny v2 BD +406, total 30,952.
Madoka v3 BD +810, total 66,648.

The above means that Madoka did 810 total in weeks 5 and 6. Couldn't have all been in week 5, given the threshold was significantly less than 810. A bit disappointing considering v1 did 3,280 in weeks 5-6 (granted, post-recall bump) and v2 did 1,824.

These stupid monthly lists wouldn't be so nearly-worthless if they weren't timed in such a way that they only cover Week 1 for most end-of-month releases... which we already know from the charts anyway! And yes I complain about that every time I post the monthly lists, and will probably continue to do so. Such bad timing for our purposes.

There's only two shows in the Fall that are definite buys for me, Working'!! & Shana III. It'll be interesting to see whether Aniplex will pull the same stunt again for Working'!! by releasing the show on DVD only at first then spring a surprise with a BD boxset, but I'm sure the Japanese buyers will be too smart for that knowing a BD release is expected after season 1's BD announcement so they'll probably release individual LE BD & DVD volumes at the same time (plus release the special Natsu no Daikanshasai event held this year seperately to celebrate season 2's announcement).

My current problem is that there are a number boxsets and upcoming releases I'm wanting to buy but have yet to order or continue buying. Ano Hana & Hidan no Aria have been put on hold but that's because of buying VIP and expensive tickets for Janet Jackson's Aussie tour in October lol (I'm going twice! Her concert tour takes priority since I've been waiting ages for her to come back down under and was only a small child the last time she was here in 98). I also need to finish off Index II as there are only 2 more volumes left for that series.

I've still yet to order Shana season 1 & 2 BD boxsets, Shana movie BD, Working!! BD boxset, Kimi ni Todoke Complete Seasons 1 & 2 BD boxset & Rurouni Kenshin Trust & Betrayal BD set (and these are all double-dipping buys as I've got the Japanese R2 DVD for all the titles mentioned with exception of Kenshin & Shana season 1, I've got the Australian R4 DVD boxset of the OVAs for Kenshin & boxset of Shana season 1). Sheesh, so much to buy! The only series I've pre-ordered so far is the first press BD volume 1 of Baka Test 2 (and have yet to even start watching that!). I'd hate to think what would happen if I was actively watching the current anime season since the last anime I've completed watching was Ano Hana and haven't watched anything else so far.

Interesting about the directors cut for Madoka Vol 6, still going to have to make up the 10k that Bake Vol 4 is going to have a chance of beating Bake's avg. Madoka Vol 6 will probably now do close to Vol 1 levels.

I assume all 9 volumes will work the same way. Of course Vol. 1's "+ Game" bundle is a lot fancier and more expensive than Vol. 2+'s are, but the pattern is the same.

I don't know if it's yet known what the difference is, other than the "Gravure for You" stuff, between the Game bundle and the BD LE, but the BD is definitely listed as an LE, for what it's worth: "アイドルマスター 1 【完全生産限定版】 [Blu-ray]".

It includes the G4U! stuff. Otherwise identical:

something - I didn't know the standalone BD release is called limited edition. Just for simplicity sake, I figured the standlone BD would be regular edition and the game bundle limited edition. I guess, now I know to be more specific in future discussions about the idolmaster home media release.

Spring update:
C v1 does 1180/460 for 1,640. Not exactly great when you're only 4 discs and even the BD LE is under ¥6k. And this includes DVDs just barely squeezing into the list.

Hanasaku v2 does 7512/540 for 8,052. With the ~710 DVD estimate for week one vol. 1, that's a week 1 13% drop, pretty normal.

Lotte v3 does 1,102 BDs, DVDs don't chart.

AnoHana v2 adds 426 to total 32,054. 29.3% down from v1.

Tiger & Bunny v3 adds 375 for 29,092. This is week 5, didn't rank in week 4 but we can calculate 331 that week.


Winter update:
Madoka v4 adds 521, totaling 64,736. About 1.1k behind where v3 was at this point. 810 behind total, counting v3's monthly ranking adjustment.

By anisong only, I mean you won't see, say... the latest song for a shounen anime by some superstar mainstream boy band that sells 120k. Listed are either seiyuu singers, of anime-focused bands.

Roukyuubu OP/ED single, from that pretty heavily marketed idol super group (I swear they get at least as many magazine spreads as the Sphere girls), did first week sales of 17.4k, pretty impressive. Idolmaster OP is 33.5k after two weeks. At this point its almost downright unfair to compare Mizuki Nana to other "anisong" singers, but she's in front of course, with UtaPri currently in second. Idolmaster should pass UtaPri pretty soon though in the battle of the anime idols.

The S7 ED kanji is meant to be read "Kiseki", so I guess I could put "Kiseki -kiseki-" but whatever. Still surprised the Yuruyuri ED is outselling the OP. Though I have to say, I bought both and like them about equally. Might even like the ED more actually.
