Full list is out, and the following was added on the BD side. Original post has been updated accordingly.

2011 08/29~09/04 BD List

-- (42) 61 *,499 *36,577 *5 K-ON!! Live Event ~Come With Me!!

A lot of BDs added. 408 threshold on the top 50. Also... hello Evangelion, and hey a Madoka volume, though it only fills in one missing week. Plus a second week for Nichijou.

Natsume San v1 adds 529/633 DVDs, total passes 1k to 11,116.

AoEx v3 adds 747/1215, total is 14,151.

Dog Days v2 adds 614 to total 8,134. Who predicted Dog Days would be running so close to Hanasaku?

Denpa Onna v3 adds 467 BDs for 6,805. Getting a second wee helps it narrow the gap with v2 down to 32 copies.

Nichijou v3 gets a second week, adding 465 for 3,415 (counting ~730 DVD estimate last week).

Hen Semi officially does not rank, meaning less than 588 DVDs and less than 408 BDs, so under a thousand combined even at its best.

Madoka v45 does 3396/935 in its second week, total 63,349. Bigger second week than v3 or v4, though still slightly behind them in two week totals. Volume 4 comes back after missing week 5. That means it added 732 last week and 420 this week and the total is 65,888.

Index II adds 906 BDs, total 15,225.

Evangelion got a boost from the TV airing of 2.22. I mention it again only because it provides an interesting example of how sales can gradually pile up outside the rankings. I believe the last time it ranked was 04/25~05/01, so here's that compared to this week:
36 -- *1,010 451,781 29 Evangelion Shin Gekijouban: Ha (EVANGELION:2.22 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE)
33 63 **,644 455,087 41 Evangelion Shin Gekijouban: Ha (EVANGELION:2.22 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE)
Now it's not a huge amount, only 3,306 in 12 weeks. That's 242 a week not counting the bump it got here. But it's 3306 nonetheless.

1.11 is a bigger difference, both absolute, length of gap, and percentage:
34 47 **,251 164,957 69 Evangelion Shin Gekijouban: Jo (EVANGELION:1.11)
34 67 **,641 169,054 85 Evangelion Shin Gekijouban: Jo (EVANGELION:1.11)
Difference is 4,097 over 16 weeks. About 230 a week not counting the bump here.

They must be gone for good. Last one posted was for April. Probably cost shows like OreImo a couple hundred on their overall averages. Oh well...

Steins;Gate vols 1-3 all ranked on Oricon's Daily Rankings today.

http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-3904.html

I noticed that they all shot up on Amazon after episodes 22-23. Really want to see where they will be at when the yearly list comes out.

Default Re: Vol 1 Sales by Season & Miscellaneous information

I tried to find a good thread to put this in, so this seemed appropriate.

I'm translating the fanbook for the Haruhi Suzumiya novels and at the end there is a "Supplementary Information" chapter where they mention the other Haruhi-related media. This is straight from Kadokawa, so take it for what it's worth.

The Haruhi movie earned over 8.5 million yen at the box office and sold "about 200,000 copies" on BD/DVD.

Just thought you'd like the information for updates something.

Hm, interesting. So in the original, do they use a word that unambiguously means sales to customers, or could it be a shipped to retailers number? Certainly for a smash hit movie like this, I expect a long tail of sales and for "real" sales to be significantly higher numbers than what we can get from Oricon's incompletely coverage. But that's a pretty big increase. Though not bigger than other distributor-claimed vs Oricon reported sales for big titles.

Oricon lists the following:
DVD LE: *29,893 (2011 1st half DVD Top 50)
DVD RE: **1,238 (1 week of sales)

BD LE: 101,704 (2011 1st half BD Top 50)
BR RE: **2,030 (1 week of sales)

Total: 134,910 as of June 2011.

Taking Kadokawa at straight 200,000, that's a 65,090 gap. Obviously we're stuck still using Oricon for comparing releases, just like how I don't triple Nodame Cantabile's sales because the noitaminA guy said it sold three times what was reported. I mean, there are those news reports from back in the day about Haruhi 2k6 v1 selling (shipping?) 90,000. Not going to put 90k in my spreadsheet though, heh.

But it'll be interesting to see what the Oricon full year Top 500 says. I doubt Shoushitsu goes over about 140k in that, since it probably dropped outside the range Oricon tracks by now.

Thanks for the info.

Here's the relevant information about sales from the book:
Quote:
(information about fans loving the movie)...興行収入八・五億円を記録。その後発売されたBD/DVD『涼宮ハルヒの消失』は約二十万本を売り上げた。
I've ran the kanji through translators and likely have quintuple-checked it due to that big difference, but it says "sold" and not "shipped." I've looked back at the unofficial reports that said Kadokawa planned to ship 180,000 copies of the LE BD, LE DVD, and RE DVD. Source. That would match up to selling all of the original production and likely selling more of the BD versions. They're still in stock and even KyoAni's added them back to their online store (along with the BD-Box).

Most interesting development is seeing the fruits of Steins;Gate's return to high rankings for Vols. 1-2. Full list only added the last 3 BDs this week but since that includes Steins 1-2 it's pretty useful. They might rank again next week given they're both still highly ranked.

Summer update:
none

Spring update:
Qwaser II v3 does 2566/820 for 3,386

Sengoku Otome v3 sees DVDs back, does 959/624 for 1,583. Still makes me sad how poorly this sells.

HoshiKaka v3 gets DVDs as well, 786/515 for 1,301

Steins v3 adds 615 for 15,383. Higher than Vol. 2 (14,935 after 3 weeks), but only if you include the ~500 DVDs estimated for v3. v2 probably did the same or more DVDs, so I'd put it still maybe 200 higher.
Update - v1 adds 432. This is week 11, and we last saw it rank in week 6. Total is 18,015 so that means that in addition to this week's amount, in the four weeks between last ranking and this week it averaged 340 a week.
Update - v2 adds 445 in its 7th week, totaling 16,415. It last ranked in its 3rd week, so a three week gap means it did 345 on average average through weeks 4-6.

Tiger & Bunny v4 adds 594 BDs for 28,212.

Gintama' v2 adds 549 for 12,654.

AnoHana v3 adds 486 BDs for 29,259.

Winter update:
Madoka v5 adds 736 BDs for 64,085.

Infinite Stratos v5 adds 427 in its 3rd week, total 31,631. I think that as of next volume, AnoHana will fall behind IS in average. AnoHana is at 35,556 and dropping (45.4 > 32.0 > 29.3), while IS is at 34,134 and quite stable (38.9 > 34.1 > 33.5 > 32.6 > 31.6).

Past seasons:
none

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica:
Vol 1: 78,237 (12 wk)
Vol 2: 72,507 (*8 wk)
Vol 3: 66,648 (*4 wk)
Vol 4: 65,888 (*6 wk)
Vol 5: 63,349 -> 64,085 (*3 wk) - Adds 736 BDs.
Vol 6: **,*** (** wk)
Current average: 69,473

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai:
Vol 1: 45,356 (*4 wk)
Vol 2: 32,054 (*4 wk)
Vol 3: 28,773 -> 29,259 (*3 wk) - Adds 486 BDs.
Vol 4: **,*** (** wk)
Vol 5: **,*** (** wk)
Vol 6: **,*** (** wk)
Current average: 35,556

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Lotte EX (OVA) does 1606/510 for 2,116.

No Vol. 1s again until the week of 9/20.
