I will go with whatever gets decided from the collected whole. I'm not picky about this.

Suppose that I might consider taking over this thread. Would I have to start a new thread? Just curious.
I started this with multiple countries (JP, HK, TW, KR; both DVD & Blu-ray) on an online spreedsheet. I never got around on finishing it though.

Might be best to just start a new thread, you can copy/paste what's in the old and just update it. If WTK has info too, he can provide it in-thread and you can edit it in, or whatever works.

If anyone takes over existing threads to replace inactive users, just let me know. I'll unpin the old one and pin the new one like I did for touma's TRSI thread.

Same. Either way is fine for me.

What dose that mean? You have the power but not the authority?

Admin is a higher level that controls basic forum-level settings, like actual VB configuration stuff. I'm a mod, so I can act on the content of the forums, but I don't think I can, say, create an entirely new subforum or anything. I'd have to poke around the options more to tell.

As far as authority I wasn't told there were any limits beyond what the software lets mods do, nor was there any indication that anyone was intending to step in and overrule from on high. Seems Mania's intent is to let the community manage itself as its been doing for half a year now. Only change is that we've got a couple tools back that let us clean up the occasional junk we couldn't do anything about before.

I'd prefer having all the BD threads in a BD section (as it is now), rather than having to hunt through two different sections with them mixed in with DVD releases to find them.

That's the thing though, nearly all JP releases are already available as both DVD and BD. What importers have indicated in the past that they're looking for is "I want the Idolmaster solicitation thread" or "I want to see info on upcoming JP releases for import" not "I just want to see BD releases... without specifying which market I'm even buying from." For importers, separating Japanese releases out into a separate forum from the Japanese releases forum is... honestly really bizarre. It creates silly situations where a DVD-only release like Gintama would have to go in one forum while a DVD+BD release like, well, pretty much everything else goes in a different forum. It also means people who import have to waste time looking through an increasing mass of [US] posts to get to the releases they care about.

The division is much more useful if it's based on which market is being served, rather than which color of laser reads the plastic. This wouldn't affect western BD releases, it's specifically meant to address what's been a long-term frustration for the importer community.

I guess look at it this way: we already have some division by market, that's why we don't put Japanese DVD releases in the R1 DVD forum. That's also why we don't use the same thread to talk about a release after it's been licensed - we know they're fundamentally different markets. BD has replaced DVD as the standard for anime in Japan, to the point where specially isolating it in a different forum is a pretty big hassle. Anyway this was the direction things were moving even before the forum split, it just wasn't implemented until afterward which left nobody to fix it here.

What does VB stand for? And can you ban people? Sorry for all the questions.

For what it's worth, I think we should separate JP and US BD releases, although I don't actually import anyway. Maybe we should have a poll.

VB is vBulletin, the software that the forums run on.

Edit: Oh yeah, I support something's proposal. Would make things much simpler.
