Yeah, I saw that. This isn't getting any less confusing...

The most recent Yaraon post on the subject is pulling apart the image - speculation seems to be that it's actually a leak from Aniplex...

That is Aoki Ume's art right? I've never seen this piece before and I feel like I've seen all of Ume's art, Madoka Magica wise, so far.

As for the image itself, I don't think many of the people trying to pick it apart for evidence of a hoax have a clue. If it's a hoax, it's really excellent work in Photoshop. I can't see any signs of tampering, every portion of the image appears to be of the same resolution, none of the usual signs of crappy PS work (badly done masking, texture not matching between different images combined into one, etc.). Since this sort of thing comprises a good portion of my livelihood, I'd like to think I'd notice a fake. I've certainly seen professional work that was far worse.

And if it is a fake, my hat's off to them, though putting this much effort into something for the lulz seems a bit silly.

Well, it'd be more someone inserting the line onto a photo of the real cover (Madoka getting another cover would be pretty unsurprising). Basically, the suspicion was that it's all legit except that one line. I'd put odds on it being legit too but would rather be skeptical until they confirm it.

So HMV initially said it wasn't legit ans that Nanoha was on the cover, then retracted that tweet, then someone else tweeted it was and... 2-3 days until we know for sure.

I sort of saw this coming. Certainly a film is welcomed, but I wonder what will go into the movie. It could be a lot of things, and I am thinking that it is going to be a story that happens in one of the alternative timelines that Homura was in as explained in episode 10 where Madoka becomes a Puella Magi and dies, prompting Homura to wish for time-traveling powers and thus, setting the stage for the TV series. A movie that explains episode 10 in more detail would be what I would like this film to be about.

Madoka Magica Film Project to Be Trilogy

Atsuhiro Iwakami, the producer of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime, is revealing in the December issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine on Thursday that the upcoming theatrical film project will be a trilogy. In particular, two films will be a compilation of the television series, while one film will be an all-new story.

Iwakami made the comments in an interview that also included director Akiyuki Shinbo (SHAFT), original character designer Ume Aoki, and writer Gen Urobuchi.
