Is Gundam AGE gonna flop hardcore? Copy pasta my post.

2.5% for Episode 3 for the people curious about these matters.

Younger audience not watching (maybe an early morning timeslot like what Gurren Lagann and Eureka Seven aired in would've been better for it's target audience?)
BD not selling on Amazon (Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #2,078 in DVD)
DVD not selling on Amazon (Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #3,341 in DVD)

Are the models at least getting any interest? Oh well I guess Hino doesn't care as long as his Gundam AGE PSP RPG sells.

Meanwhile Gundam SEED is showing who's boss.. curious to see how that sells.

Haven't seen it yet. There will be more, those anime BDs only covered the top 20, it's just slow in coming this week. The archive thread hasn't posted them and while I haven't been able to follow the sales discussion threads perfectly, I did skim the last few and haven't noticed anything posted.

Hopefully soon, there could be another 10-20 BDs to add.

Wow, more than 30 anime DVDs in a week, that's incredibly rare.

Summer update:
BakaTest Ni v2 does 2638/1517 for 4,155. Slightly up from v1.

NO.6 v2 sells 1549/1957 for 3,506, a 29% drop from v1 wk 1.

Sacred Seven v2 drops to 1,643 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

KamiDolls v2 does 1,450 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

Croisee v2 does 1,161 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

R-15 v2 drops 31% in BDs to 1,026, DVDs don't rank.

Blood-C v2 does 948 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

KamiMemo v2 does 908 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

Spring update:
KamiNomi II v4 does 2,076 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

Winter update:
Gosick v7 does 1,631 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

Suite Precure first BD release (Box 1 of 4 accompanying the 16 DVDs) sells 1,061. Well, that's about double what its been selling on DVD, I guess. In terms of ¥ it's about 2x as much in sales.

So, I may be wrong on this, but I think the Japanese database isn't showing the correct number of points for Fate/Zero or perhaps I don't get how it works.

Right now it's showing that for each day that Fate/Zero was at #1 it earned 331 points. So one would think that's the maximum amount of points it can earn in a day.

However, by taking a look at Persona 4's vol. 1 BD amount of points (30464 at the time of this post), one can see that it easily eclipsed this supposed maximum daily cap. Since it has been available for 71 days, and 71 * 331 = 23501... plus the fact that it hasn't been at #1 position yet so far. I can only think something somewhere is screwed up.

What is even stranger is if you change the maximum number of points for the middle graph on the Fate/Zero page, its points jump all the way up to 19,200 (with a crazy prediction of 300,000+ total points)

All I'm saying is, the database code seems borked somewhere. Or it could just be because I can't read Japanese and it's working as intended despite my aloof tinkering.

Eh? That can't be right...

Ok, something is definitely screwy here. I do think they calculate box-sets differently, but this just...can't be right. There is no way they'll sell half, or even a third that amount.

This makes me happy. I'd consider that "doing well" for what it is. I want to say that's more than enough for more OVA's, or a single TV series.

Right now it's showing that for each day that Fate/Zero was at #1 it earned 331 points. So one would think that's the maximum amount of points it can earn in a day.
The database uses a different formula for "high priced" items, where #1 is 331 instead of 1,000. Normally it's a good idea, or re-release boxes end up being waaaaaaaaay over-estimated. Like, the Top wo Nerae BD box said 24,000+ points at one point. Obviously incorrect. With the cut in points to high priced items, estimates for those items became more accurate. They tend to get a couple really high ranked days even if they only end up selling a few thousand, and 1,000 a day skews the numbers even more than it does for individual discs.

However, it remains to be seen how well the adjustment works for initial release boxsets. Basically, we don't have any other similar release to compare to, so it may undercount them. I'd say that's basically guaranteed actually.

You can tell how something is calculated by the icon:
※★はBlu-ray、○はDVD、◎はBOXなどの高額商品を表します。累積ポイントはそれぞれ算出方法が異なっていま す
=
※★ is Blu-Ray, ○ is DVD, ◎ is boxsets and high-priced items. The method for calculating accumulated points is different for each.

Oh, and predictions of final points and sales are totally useless for something like F/Z that's been in first all along. The predictions are projected from current behavior. So basically the prediction probably assumed it'll be #1 forever or at least for longer than is likely.

Edit: Oooooooh, Fate box finally fell out of first. It had 193 hourly updates in a row in first, then it fell to #2 behind AKB48 on 2011年 11月 05日 13時 JST.

Working'!! gets Fall off to a good start. Second weeks are really low almost across the board. Some significant drops from previous volume wk2s.

Fall update:
Working'!! v1 starts at 10050/5410 to total 15,460. I expect far less of a drop between v1 and v2 this season, so this is quite good. Figure it gets to about 18k total, and the whole show could end up... oh, being pessimistic maybe 12k or so, which isn't so bad when season one did 15.2k if you exclude the 32.4k v1 (17.7k with it).

Summer update:
Manyuu v2 does 1755/615 for 2.370.

Idolmaster v1 adds 580, total 6,044.

PingDrum v1 adds 510, total 6,376.

UtaPri v2 adds 585/918 for 13,456. Now 44.8% off v1.

Natsume San v3 adds 555 DVDs, total 10,052.

Spring update:
Sengoku Otome v5 does 859/538, total 1,397.

HoshiKaka v5 does 690/444, total 1,134.

AnoHana v5 adds 1629/543, total 25,758. By far the lowest second week of an volume, 500 lower than v2. Guess it's because wk1 was so close to v4 wk1.

AoEx v5 adds 551/968, total 11,426.

Tiger&Bunny v6 adds 1288 BDs, 24,698 total.

Gintama' v4 adds 1379 for 13,315.

Sekaiichi v5 adds 1316 to total 4,749. One of the exceptions this week, this is its biggest wk2.

Steins;Gate v5 adds 750 BDs, total 15,025.

Dog Days v4 gets a second week and adds 461, total 7,460, leaving it only 105 copies short of v3.

Past seasons:
none

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica:

Vol 3: 66,648 (*4 wk)
Vol 4: 67,396 (*9 wk)
Vol 5: 66,467 (*6 wk)
Vol 6: 66,394 -> 66,642 (*5 wk) - Adds 248 DVDs in monthly ranking.
Current average: 69,608
- May retire this list if they don't rank next week. Might not see them again until the yearly list.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai:
Vol 1: 45,356 (*4 wk)
Vol 2: 32,466 (*4 wk)
Vol 3: 29,510 (*4 wk)

A lot we can estimate within ~100 discs here, I think, less in most cases. I basically estimate in units of 25 here unless it's really close to a guidepost. I'll go update lists and such later tonight.

Steins;Gate really would have been better off not releasing DVDs at all... I bet anything that if it had aired in Fall '11 or Winter '12, we wouldn't have a DVD option, given that Horizon and Fate have broken that taboo.
