well, the UK licence lies with beez UK, and they are out of buisness, too.
I guess there is no chance of an englisch speaking release anytime soon. at least before the licence expires with bandai and or beez.

It's region B too, right? Japan will eventually give us a BD set with English subtitles. They know there are a bunch of us willing to pay.

Went out of business? I guess your definition is different from mine. They won't be producing and releasing new DVD and Blu-rays. With the restructuring they will be dealing with licensing rights to other companies.

If they are not releasing they are out of business... all that's left is a label... Kadokawa USA... Toei USA... Geneon USA? Makes paperwork easier to have an point of contact in the same time zone... but it all still goes back to Tokyo for approval. It's been said, BE couldn't release what they want how they want... they did as told. You really think things have changed?

If a BD release for NA is done with JP lossless audio... I'll be pleasantly surprised. But I'll hope for a region B release with English subs. Still waiting to see those My-Hime BD releases outside JP... well the OVA spinoffs anyway.

They are no longer in business when it comes to releasing/licensing new DVDs/BDs. For me it comes down to what BEI really meant by digital distribution, broadcast, and merchandising. I consider them in business even if BEI is only licensing the various rights and then someone else will be distributing it (if a physical product). And anything they have said thus far can always change.

Toei USA is probably the best comparison of the ones you used here (especially considering BEI's focus now shifts toward ). Kadokawa USA handled distribution (back then the focus appeared to be more toward physical disc releases) and they have been gone since '09. As to Geneon USA, it's anyone's guess if there is anyone left for the paperwork stuff.

That's pretty much known for quite a while now. Some aspects known publicly more than the others (like Kurokami). I don't think anything changed in terms what they are allowed to do. It remains to be seen on what digital distribution, broadcast, and merchandising will really do for BEI.

Bandai Ent seems like Enoki Films now, becoming a Master Licensor and then sublicensing it out to other companies

anywhoo this makes me jealous I really wanted this on BD, so I'm hoping a Japanese BD-BOX will eventually pop up with Eng sub/dub.
