Finally got to post this. Really low DVD threshold.
Quite a lot of REs for the Hagaren movie for some reason. Macross also decided to pop in again thanks to the low threshold.

Fall update:
Gundam AGE gets 1,991 BDs. DVDs... wow, DVDs don't even rank with a 282 threshold.

Guilty Crown v1 gets a third week and adds 498 BDs, total12,137. Ever so slightly ahead of Haganai now, but Haganai didn't get a third week.

Persona 4 v3 adds 559/283 for 29,928, only 4.5% down on v2 at the moment with two less weeks of BDs, slightly ahead at the same point in time.

Horizon v2 adds 528 for 21,402. Just 13% down from a discounted v1 is quite good.

Summer update:
none

Past seasons:
Denpa Onna v7, the final volume, does 2316/1140 for 6,456, 13.6% up on v6 wk1. Current average is 6,584, very solid.

Tiger&Bunny v9 adds 405 BDs, total 26,379. Final average is now 25,790.

Gintama' v7 adds 395, total 11,956.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Bakemonogatari BD Box adds 505 in its 8th week, total 30,251. Updated top 3:

01) ¥1356.6m (34,000 * ¥39,900) - Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
02) ¥*889.4m (30,251 * ¥29,400) - Bakemonogatari
03) ¥*865.1m (21,682 * ¥39,900) - Toradora!

Onegai Teacher BD Box adds another 542, slightly more than last week. Total 4,330, and updated rankings put it ahead of Ookami and Ga-rei, basically tied with Mononoke/Ayakashi:

23) ¥*127.4m (*3,466 * ¥36,750) - Mononoke
24) ¥*127.3m (*4,330 * ¥29,400) - Onegai Teacher
25) ¥*125.9m (*4,441 * ¥28,350) - Ga Rei -Zero-
26) ¥*111.6m (*3,322 * ¥33,600) - Ookami to Koushinryou

No v1s next week, then Natsume Shi and ZnT F on 2/22.

Could someone explain this to me?:

***,*26位 ★ (***,139 pt) [*,**6予約] 2012年09月05日 モーレツ宇宙海賊(パイレーツ) 7(初回限定盤)(Blu-ray Disc)

Is this really the seventh volume of Space Pirates or google translate is failing me? Why would the 7th volume climb all the way up to the 26th spot before the other volumes even reach the top 100?

Remember that the rankings are re-calculated every hour. The 7th volume changed in price over the past day (to include a bonus CD) and as such, Amazon canceled everyone's order. If they had simply raised the price, their computer would've kept the lower price on all of the orders, thus losing money. It was easier to cancel everyone's order, send an e-mail saying as such, and have the people re-order it. It's at the 26th ranking for the past hour since everyone that had previously ordered it had to re-order it.

It's fantastic news to have Bakemonogatari BD Box sold over 30,000 units!

Default Winter '12 check-up, 2/17

Blah, sitting at work late on a Friday while I wait for things to happen so I can work still more. Might as well kill time looking at sales trends! All charts are set to 60 day time period and 300 lower limit, unless otherwise specified. Bit of a followup to this post.

This isn't intended to be comprehensive, I'm just focusing on the 7 shows I'm considering importing. Links on the point totals go to the 60/300 graphs. DVD is only included if it's worth mentioning.

They're ordered according to how much I expect them to sell overall.

Nisemonogatari
 BD pts: 44,122
DVD pts: *4,028
Release: 2012-04-25
The graph speaks for itself, doesn't it? It's only recently that the first volume even left the top 10. The DVD is also the highest scoring of Winter, but obviously Nise will be vastly more BD-heavy than Bake was. 90+% BD at this rate.

Natsume Yuujin-chou Shi
 BD pts: *3,971
DVD pts: *2,891
Release: 2012-02-22
Vol 1 discounted?: No
The chart actually goes back 120 days instead of the 60 I used for everything else, because Natsume Shi has been solicited for such a long time.
Natsume is an interesting case. For one, the DVD chart is seriously misleading, since it's the second highest DVD tally of the season despite never ranking highly. The BD chart also shows little in the way of top 50 rankings. Current points are 6,862 total, which is admittedly lower than I expected 5 days out from release and 12 days from the end of point accumulation. Season three was very closely called by Stalker (-8% DVD, +10% BD) so I might expect this season to be the same, but I think the long time spent solicited has skewed the rankings. I still expect another 10k series (after going 10237 > 10316 > 10224, why would season four be any different, especially with only one cour break between 3 and 4?) but who knows.

Ano Natsu de Matteru
 BD pts: *5,962
DVD pts: **,186
Release: 2012-03-23
Vol 1 discounted?: No
After starting very high it's been on an unbroken downward trend with no signs of increasing. That said it's still in the mid-100s, and if it can bottom out around here and then surge again on a strong set of closing episodes (final episode should air right around release time) it could easily pull a Haganai or Guilty Crown and take its 10k, hitting 12k after week two. Otherwise, it's another Penguindrum and will never recover, ending closer to 6k. DVDs, obviously, are utterly negligible and will not rank.

Mouretsu Pirates
 BD pts: *1,847
DVD pts: **,166
Release: 2012-03-07
Vol 1 discounted?: No
Not particularly impressive in raw numbers, totaling barely 2,000. But Mouretsu's BD performance has been really promising lately. It took 5 episodes but it finally hit the top 100, moved all the way into the 40s, and stayed over 100 for a few days. Importantly, the mid-week low point was equivalent to the previous weeks' high points, and with episode 6 it shot right back up, slightly higher (peak 39) and maintained its bump longer and at a higher average. The area under the graph in that last bump is obviously bigger than the first.
Episodes 7 to 9 all air before release date. If it can keep this up every week, its points may not skyrocket but sales will go from abject failure to very solid. This could be the kind of late bloomer Stalker ends up undercounting by quite a large margin. I honestly think it could get and stay ahead of Rinne.

Rinne no Lagrange
 BD pts: *3,074
DVD pts: **,328
Release: 2012-03-23
Vol 1 discounted?: No
The other Satou Tatsuo show with cute girls in sci-fi. Despite higher points, Rinne and Mouretsu have almost swapped places, but not quite. Rinne's highs are still a little higher than Mouretsu's, and it's lows still haven't dropped below 300, although the latter may be just a few hours away (288 as I type this). MARU-WAN power still has a couple more weeks on Mouretsu before v1 is out, but I'm hoping it gets back to its earlier success and can pull well ahead of 5k.

Inu x Boku SS
 BD pts: *1,659
DVD pts: *1,533
Release: 2012-03-21
Vol 1 discounted?: Yes
Gotta say, I did not notice before now that InuBoku had nearly equal DVD points to BD. I wonder why that is? Are the bishies drumming up a smidge of fujoshi interest? Doesn't seem like it would, and it's from a shounen magazine. And in any case, it's not a sizable DVD number, it's just a sizable percentage of the overall total, compared to the virtually nil that AnoNatsu, Mouretsu, PapaKiki and Rinne are doing on DVD. I don't know how this one will shake out... probably a 3k full-series average on a good day, especially since volume one is discounted.

Papa no Iu Koto wo Kikinasai!
 BD pts: *1,274
DVD pts: **,212
Release: 2012-04-11
Vol 1 discounted?: Yes
There's no real hope for this one, sad to say. Lowest BD numbers of the bunch, rarely cracking #200 in February, little reason to believe it'll turn around, and the first volume is even steeply discounted as it is - the subsequent volumes are more than double the MSRP, although they include 3x as many episodes and it's only a 5 volume release (yay). I hope that supposed(/presumed/rumored/imaginary?) second cour is already planned and paid for, because if not I see them ending it after one. It's a shame, because it's far better and less pandering than a quick glance (or the first episode) would make you think. Yes there are occasional stupid fanservice cliches, but it's maybe one bad one an episode, with the rest being good character interaction that's actually rather sweet. It's almost like they get the stupid out of their system at the start or end of each episode and devote the rest to being exactly what I would hope a story with this kind of premise would be. True, it's certainly no Usagi Drop, but it's a totally respectable shounen-ized (in comparison: younger male protagonist, increased fanservice, more girls, all to be expected) variation on the theme of a single man unexpectedly becoming a father. Anyway it comes out later than most of the others, but I'm not holding my breath for a turnaround. I'd still like to import it if I do indeed go for all seven, though.

Awesome reappearance of Yuru Yuri v5, must have gotten a slight v6 bump (plus low thresholds help).
Bake hangs on a little longer too.

Fall update:
Ikamusume!? v3 does 3,379 BDs, DVDs do not rank. This is the exact number v1 did.

Majikoi v4 gets 2306/597 for 2,903.

Ben-To v3 sells 1,726 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Gundam AGE v1 adds 352 BDs, total 2,343.

Persona 4 v3 adds 318 BD in week 4, total passes 30k at 30,246.

Horizon v2 adds 314 BDs in week 4, total 21,716.

Summer update:
Yuru Yuri v6, final volume, starts at 6796/1324 to total 8,120. Wow, 21% increase on v5, and second highest selling volume overall. Been a while since I've seen a bump quite this large on the final volume. That keeps the final average over 8k at 8,070. Very very nice, I just hope ♪♪ doesn't see a drop to sub-4k like Ikamusume. Edit: Ah, it's the effect of a live event ticket.
Update: v5 also charts, in its third week. It didn't rank in its second, but we can now calculate it did 618 then and added 316 this week, total 7,646, which brings the final average up to 8,225. <3

Past seasons:
Hanasaku v8 starts at 6157/403 for 6,560.

Denpa Onna v7, final volume, adds 348 BDs, total 6,804. Average now stands at 6,634.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Bakemonogatari BD Box adds 380 in its 9th week, total 30,631. It's now hit the ¥900m mark. Updated top 3:

01) ¥1356.6m (34,000 * ¥39,900) - Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
02) ¥*900.6m (30,631 * ¥29,400) - Bakemonogatari
03) ¥*865.1m (21,682 * ¥39,900) - Toradora!

Next week, Natsume Shi and ZnT F.
