Default January Monthly Rankings

http://jbbs.livedoor.jp/bbs/read.cgi...1293278942/304

January monthly list, additions below.

Haganai v1 +930 BDs, total 12,914. Puts it back ahead of GC, and since we already have a third week of GC sales odds are it didn't go from 298 in wk3 to 800 in week 4, meaning Haganai ought to stay ahead.

Penguindrum v4 +368 BDs, total 4,967.

Tamayura v2 +149 BDs, total 4,905.

Ikamusume!? v2 +358 BDs, total 3,769.

Mayo Chiki v5 +264 BDs, total 3,636.

Last Exile Fam v1 +343 BDs, total 3,369.

Usagi Drop v4 +273 BDs, total 4,154. Updated final average: 3,985.

Majikoi v3 +509 BDs, total 3,719.

Persona 4 v2 +1037 BDs (wks 6-7), total 32,391. That brings Persona 4 v2 to only 21% below the discounted, OP/ED-bundled v1, which is actually really good.

[Thursday update for week of 2/13 coming in a little bit]

Full list is out, and the following was added. Original post has been updated accordingly.

2012 02/06~02/12 BD List
-- (23) -- *,777 ***,777 *1 Ai no Kusabi (2012) v2

-- (46) 37 *,314 *21,716 *4 Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon v2
50 (*,301)

Horizon again. And nice to see a little more for Shana, inadequate as it may be.

Fall update:
Gundam AGE v1 adds 352 BDs, total 2,343.

Persona 4 v3 adds 318 BD in week 4, total passes 30k at 30,246.

Horizon v2 adds 314 BDs in week 4, total 21,716.

Summer update:
Yuru Yuri v5 also charts, in its third week. It didn't rank in its second, but we can now calculate it did 618 then and added 316 this week, total 7,646, which brings the final average up to 8,225. <3

Past seasons:
Denpa Onna v7, final volume, adds 348 BDs, total 6,804. Average now stands at 6,634.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Bakemonogatari BD Box adds 380 in its 9th week, total 30,631. It's now hit the ¥900m mark. Updated top 3:

01) ¥1356.6m (34,000 * ¥39,900) - Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
02) ¥*900.6m (30,631 * ¥29,400) - Bakemonogatari
03) ¥*865.1m (21,682 * ¥39,900) - Toradora!

Nice! I hope the series keeps at around a 10K average...hopefully. That'd be nice.

I have to sift through previous lists, but I think, at least after the first volume, the sales have been somewhat consistent.

Only need about another 3400 sales to reach the 1000m yen mark. I think it can do it over the course of the year.

I have to sift through previous lists, but I think, at least after the first volume, the sales have been somewhat consistent.
Vol) BD/DVD = Total (%change from previous / %change from v1) [#weeks charted]
v1) 4,485/*,760 = 5,245 (-**.**% / -**.**%) [2]
v2) 3,791/*,750 = 4,541 (-13.42% / -13.42%) [1]
v3) 3,474/*,625 = 4,099 (-*9.73% / -21.85%) [1]
v4) 3,368/*,630 = 3,998 (-*2.46% / -23.78%) [1]
v5) 3,636/*,*** = 3,636 (-*9.05% / -30.68%) [1+BD monthly]

No DVD estimate for v5 yet, don't think there will be one. So that skews the v5 %change but otherwise it's reasonably consistent, about 20-25% off v1.

Bake came out at the best possible time as far as sales tracking is considered: the very first week that will be counted in the 2012 yearly lists. So every sale it makes for its entire first year (until it drops below whatever tracking threshold Oricon has) will count, unlike, say, Haruhi which never got reported after the fourth week. Toradora has the same advantage as Bake. Now how many of those sales will actually get included in Oricon's tally once it drops lower, that's unclear. Plenty of releases seem to only add a small amount on yearly lists beyond what ranked in the weeklies.

Well Kizumonogatari makes it a no brainer to reach that mark...

Huge week. It seems to be getting worse... Need that top 100 BD list, Oricon! Although these posts would take so damn long(er) if we had that.
UtaPri v6 got a bump from the event ticket, but holy crap is that ever a massive bump. That is literally more than double the first week sales of v5. It's more than the monthly total of v1.
I'll do a Winter '12 v1 post tonight probably. (Edit: Oh it's Thursday already. Okay, I'll do it this weekend when I'm not working 12-14 hour days.)

Winter update:
Natsume Shi v1 continues its streak of ridiculously good consistency. 5253/4011 starts it at 9,264. A bit below previous volumes but will be over 10k next week. This season might not manage to slip in at barely over 10k like the previous ones but it'll be high 9s at least.

Zero no Tsukaima F did not rank in either format which means it did less than 997 DVDs and 1,668 BDs, which is even worse than I expected. Major bomb, not that I'm choked up about it.

Fall update:
Persona 4 v4 starts at 18837/5896 for 24,733. Down 8% from v3 wk1.

Horizon v3 starts at 18,461, slightly higher than v2. We'll see if it has as big a second week.

Working'!! v5 sees a nice bump, up 14% on v4 wk1 and more in line with v2 wk1 sales. 7886/3579 for 11,465, and I wonder what caused a 40% jump in DVD sales.

Haganai v2 gets 8104/2269 for 10,373, a 4% increase on v1 wk1. I'm guessing it wont add as much in weeks 2+ as v1 did but it's fantastic to see its first week sales go up instead of down. That gives it a slight chance st a 10k final.

Guilty Crown v2 on the other hand goes down, 6145/1877 for 8,022 or down 20%.

Tamayura v3 does 3,688 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

Last Exile Fam v2 sells 2,762 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

Mashiro-iro v2 gets 2,055 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

Maken-ki v3 does 2,048 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

Chihayafuru v3 sells 1,854 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

C3 v3 sells 1,815 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

Mirai Nikki v3 sells 1,809 BDs, DVDs don't rank.

Kimi to Boku v3 has now dropped by half on v1 to 997 DVDs, BDs not ranked.

Past seasons:
UtaPri v6, final volume, gets 9252/16236 for 25,488 and singlehandedly raises the series average by 1.6k to 17,337. It's a 120% increase on v5 wk1. We had a nice effect from the Yuru Yuri event ticket last week but that's nothing compared to this.

Steins;Gate v9, final volume, does 15,804 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Biggest first week for any volume by a big margin and 18% increase on v8 wk1. It'll add a bit more, but final average at the moment is 16,352.

iDOLM@STER v5 continues its climb upwards, in a big way this week. 7159/1895 for 9,054. Up 28% on v4 wk1. I expect to see an accompanying decline in G4U, probably to about 17k. Hopefully G4U doesn't fall to the point where it doesn't rank anymore. But man it's funny to see a show increase its sales every volume from v1 (v5 is 43% higher than v1's wk3 total), even if it's happening because of unusual circumstances. I wonder if we see a 10k wk1 standalone by the end.

AoEx v9 starts 3179/4083 for 7,262.

Penguindrum v5 starts at 4,214 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Starry Sky finally ends its long 13 volume run at 2,376 for a final average of 3,178.

No.6 v6, final volume, starts at 1,499 DVDs, BDs not ranked yet. Average right now is 3,479.

BakaTest Ni v6, final volume, starts at 1,272 DVDs, BDs not ranked yet. Update: 2,332 BDs, total 3,604, final average now 3,800.

Mayo Chiki v6, final volume, does 3,473 BDs, DVDs don't rank. Final average: 4,396.

Nichijou v9 sells 1,668 BDs, DVDs do not rank. I wonder if it'll drop below 1k by the last volume. I can't believe there are still four more left, goddamn Kadokawa what are you thinking?

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Top wo Nerae! BD box does 12,990 first week. I don't include OVAs in my boxset list, but at ¥15,540 that's ¥201.9m, between Scryed and Kanon 2k6.

Escaflowne BD Box sells 2,193.

Hotarubi no Mori e, from the Natsume Yuujin-chou mangaka, does 7171/5245 for 12,416.

Sora no Otoshimono movie starts at 8675/2026 for 10,701. Not amazing but could have done worse.

No v1s next week, followed by Fate, Mouretsu, PapaKiki, and Kill Me Baby on 3/07. I need to get my March order in early in the month thanks to Mouretsu and PapaKiki.

In case you wanted to know, I think it had to do with the fact that vol. 5 LE DVD/BD contained tickets for another special Working'!! (Wagnaria) live event that is going to be held on April 15th. It seemed most of the LE BD edition for this volume went out of stock pretty quickly (Animate could only send it to me a few days after the release date even though I had pre-ordered it about a month in advance) so those who really wanted to attend this event but did not order the LE BD before it went out of stock decided to buy the LE DVD since that also contained tickets.
