Wow, that was really pretty good. I'm pretty interested in the subject, so hopefully that can get me by when the show doesn't deliver on...well basically anything else I'm interested in. Oh well. I guess I could go watch Rocket Girls again.

Hirata Hiroaki as Mutta sounds really familiar. Ok, yeah, I've heard him in a bajillion things before, but specifically this voice and tone, especially during narrations. But I can't place it, even looking through his roles. And not something especially recent either.

I'm not sure about her relationship with the Nanba's, but I found other aspects of her, unstated but made fairly apparent, to be quite interesting.

Oh yeah, and the episode was pretty good. Nothing really to say though.

SO they decide the astronauts by loosening a screw in their chair and seeing who messes with it during their interview. I guess that's one way to get the unlikely applicant one of those few spots. Lots of fun, anyway. I look forward to following this already-likeable trio who will undoubtedly be the final three from the JAXA side of things. The series will apparently be much shorter than first rumored, so I guess they'll have to get the brothers together and out into space a lot more quickly than I was planning on.

Here? But maybe not? That update seems to imply the news that article originally reported on was a mistranslation. So I guess it could end up being a lot longer after all.

At first I thought Mutto had a nervous tick that caused him to scratch the butt of the chair, but as soon as it revealed he was messing with a screw, I had a decent idea of where it was going (I just wasn't sure if it would turn out someone did it intentionally or it was accidental and someone would discover it afterwards). A loose screw can be a big fucking deal on a spaceship so seeing if the interviewees would notice it was a natural direction to go with it.

And Aunt Sharon was very obviously living with another woman that is definitely not related to her. Interesting.

Calling an older female "Auntee" seems to be common in Japan. Hell, it was common where I was from to call a close female friend of the family "Aunt" in front of their first name. Also might be related by marriage, although given her roommate I don't think so.

Yeah, there were a few family friends I called "Aunt" when I was a kid, and that's in the States. That's why I'm wondering what her real relationship (in a broad, not necessarily biological sense) is.

Also might be related by marriage, although given her roommate I don't think so.

Heh, wouldn't it be interesting to get a legit lesbian couple in, of all things, Uchuu Kyoudai? Still, for now it's entirely plausible they're just fellow researchers at the same small observatory, though I guess it could be both. Looks like they've been working together there since at least when Mutta was a kid, so what, 15-20 or maybe more years now.

- Kenji's English is pretty good. Nice work, Katou Masayuki.
- Lung capacity. I'd probably be done after 20 seconds.
- Ahaha, I love Mutta's calm face hiding his gurgling mortification at being seen by the spce suit.
- Serika needs to talk more. I want to hear Miyukichi!

- Oh and now she starts talking. Yay!
- Uh oh Mutta. You remind her of her dad. That's not good.
- But of course Serika is trying to see herself in the spacesuit too. Heh. Such a cute moment of embarrassment when she realizes she was seen.
