SENTAI FILMWORKS LICENSES
“HAKUOKI”

HOUSTON, June 8, 2012 — Sentai Filmworks is pleased to announce their acquisition of Hakuoki. Directed by Osamu Yamasaki (Yotoden, Toward the Terra), this stunning series features character designs by Atsuko Nakajima (Trinity Blood, Get Backers) and music by Ko Otani (Another, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing).

Disguised as a man, Chizuru Yukimura has come to Kyoto searching for her missing father, a doctor who developed a magical elixir that increases the drinker’s speed, strength and healing abilities. Instead of her father, however, she stumbles across a battle between the Shinsengumi and the Furies, evil vampire-like creatures of their own making. As things turn out, the Shinsengumi are also searching for her father. And when they discover who she is, they decide to take her into their custody for safe-keeping. But her sex is not the only secret Chizuru has, and as more and more Furies begin appearing in Kyoto and the situation becomes ever deadlier, the Shinsengumi may find that the Furies are the least of their problems!

Hakuoki is based on the hit video game franchise by Idea Factory and is now available in North America by Aksys Games on the Sony Playstation® Portable platform. Sentai Filmworks will release Hakuoki through select digital outlets soon with a home video release on bilingual DVD to follow.

I knew that I hadn't watched any of it (which by default means that I'd be highly unlikely to bother purchasing it), but I couldn't remember when it was on TV. ANN says two years ago, which is why I'd forgotten... ^^

Crunchyroll Adds "Hakuoki - Demon Of The Fleeting Blossom" To Catalog

More back catalog action on Crunchyroll following last month's additions, as your favorite anime streaming site has added the first season of the Hakuoki anime series in Demon of the Fleeting Blossom.

The series starts streaming tonight with the complete first season available to All-Access/Anime Members, while Free Members will have 3 episodes a week available to watch each week. The series will be limited to members in the US and Canada.

Hakuoki Zuisouroku
Hakuoki SSL (a high school parody)
Hakuouki Hekketsuroku Episode 0 (which is a recap of S1)
and the 6 episode Hakuouki Sekkaroku

Edit: Just saw the press release, so looks like it's Sekkaroku, but did any of the shorts make it to the first two sets?

It's the 6 episodes from Hakuouki Sekkaroku. Nothing additional has been revealed at this time.
