I had no idea that there were so many being published. That averages out to one new 4-koma book every day.
Now we just need to persuade Yen, or any other publisher, to license more. There are some, such as Ichiroh! and S. S. Astro that I have been thinking about for a while. I guess that I should stop thinking and just buy them.

Sadly, the serialisation of S. S. Astro is on hiatus.

Though there was a thing which may have become an omen of Bannō (S. S. Astro) Negi's return, it seems that what was carried in Manga Time Kirara Carino was an illustration, rather than a manga.

A recent tendency in 'animé-isation' of 4-koma manga is that 4-koma manga which are chosen are mainly so-called moé 4-koma. So, in view of it, now the chances may not be very high that a non-moé 4-koma will be made into an anime.
In a 'Which 4-koma manga do you want to see as an anime?' thread of 2ch, people often mentioned also non-moé 4-koma, non-otacky 4 koma, 'family' 4-koma, 'fundamentalist' 4-koma, 'old school' 4-koma, and the like, though. (OL Shinkaron and Kashimashi House, too, were mentioned.)

Another factor which can be taken into account is a matter of the sub-genre 'moé 4-koma'. So-called moé 4-koma are recent 4-koma manga which have otacky styles and contents and are aimed at younger otacky readers. As a matter of course, moé 4-koma have more chances to cross over from their original medium to other forms than non-moé 4-koma. But non-Kirara Hōbunsha 4-koma manga are non-moé 4-koma, non-otacky 4 koma, 'family' 4-koma, 'fundamentalist' 4-koma, 'old school' 4-koma, and the like. So, non-Kirara Hōbunsha 4-koma manga have less chances, and people tend to think that to have a drama CD is probably the limit of a non-moé 4-koma's capacity, even if it is so-so popular. Therefore, people also tend to think that there is such a jinx as that.

In fact, Dr Akira, Radical Hospital, Love Lab and Honey Café are non-Kirara Hōbunsha 4-koma manga and have drama CDs, but they don't/cannot cross over from their original medium to anime.
