In an effort to start streamlining threads and make finding information somewhat more accessible/easy, I'll be making a few general threads for major NA manga publishers. Of course, license announcements will still get new threads and the like, but rumors, posts on other forums/Facebook or tweets from industry people on Twitter can be posted here.

If there is anything you'd like to add or something that is incorrect, let me know and I'll edit the OP. Of course, feel free to post any updates regarding the respective publisher/series here.

Earlier today, the DMP announced a new acquisition for print:

Presenting Digital Manga's newest license, Junko's Konbini-kun/Mr. Convenience!

I also inquired as to when we could expect their release of Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko to hit shelves:

Quote:
@digitalmanga Any set release date for the Hentai Ouji manga yet, or still just "Fall 2012"?

@to_aru_Oni the end of October!

Maybe I misunderstood Digital Manga's method of distribution. Does Digital Manga do physical copies? And they're planning a physical copy of Hentai Ouji?

Then I certainly will buy Hentai Ouji. (or as they're calling it The Hentai Prince and The Stony Cat)

DMP does physical distribution.

Hell with that price, they had better be planning on a physical release.

How did I not notice that was the localized title before...

But yeah, Digital Manga Publishing (a branch of Digital Manga, Inc.) does do physical prints for releases. Not to be confused with Digital Manga Guild (that sources translators and the like for digital releases).

Yesterday, DMP posted an interview with mangaka Takanaga Hinako (The Tyrant Falls in Love / 恋する暴君) via their Facebook page.

Quote:
We’re pretty sure most fujoshi know about The Tyrant Falls in Love, the story of love-stricken Morinaga and his angry, no-homo senpai Souichi. It was a great honor to get the chance to ask Tyrant creator Hinako Takanaga a few questions to celebrate the recent release of vol. 6 of her series! Check out her shout-out to all of her English-speaking fans!

Q: Souichi and Morinaga’s relationship is pretty dysfunctional in The Tyrant Falls in Love. What’s the most interesting part of writing a one-sided relationship like theirs?

A: I enjoy portraying relationships where one individual is fixated on the other and I believe that this is one of my better series. It was difficult because Morinaga’s strong attachment could become selfish, and if Souichi’s personality was mistaken just a bit, he’d become an unpleasant character.

Q: What other hobbies do you have, apart from drawing manga?

A: I love watching feature films and TV shows, such as “24″, “Criminal Minds”, “Ally McBeal”, and the CSI series. I also enjoy playing video games, especially Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, but I’ve been too busy lately to take on such RPG series. Simple action and puzzle games are great stress relievers that take my mind off work.

Q: What’s your favorite part of the body to draw?

A: I guess “hands”. It portrays emotions and feelings more than facial expressions so I take my time illustrating them.

Q: We heard The Tyrant Falls in Love just ended serialization in Japan. Do you miss drawing Souichi and Morinaga yet?

A: I’m still going to continue working on the bonus material so I don’t miss drawing them. However, their relationship has developed to the next level so their past relationship does somewhat possess a nostalgic value. I will miss Souichi’s original tsun-tsun personality but his new tsundere personality should be quite interesting as well! Ha ha ha.

Q: Do you have any messages for your American fans?

A: Thank you all for reading my titles! I visited the U.S. twice, both occasions for attending Yaoi-Con, and noticed what a wonderful, positive, and upbeat country it is! I enjoyed the cuisine as well so I’d love to visit again. I was impressed by the creativity and devotion American BL fans have toward the Japanese culture, some even studying the original Japanese versions. I intend to keep on providing such wonderful fans with amazing manga creations. Please continue to enjoy and support the Japanese manga community!

It's nice from them to give us that kind of extra. Now if they could do an interview with a mangaka I read a manga from!
