This is regarding the VIZ industry panel at Anime North in Canada. I'd gladly take an Eva reprint, since most of the earlier volumes are OOP, and I lost my originals long ago. Also worthy of mention, VIZ announced home video rights for Zetman. Chances of the manga being licensed are slim, but not completely out of the question.

North Amercan manga publisher Viz Media announced during its "Shonen Jump Alpha Meet-up" panel at FanimeCon on Saturday that its weekly digital anthology Shonen Jump Alpha will add Kōhei Horikoshi's Sensei no Baruji (Barrage) manga. The space battle fantasy will start next week in Shonen Jump Alpha after launching in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine last Monday.

Viz described the story: "The planet of Industria is in a state of chaos, and its fate lies in the hands of Astro, a good-natured boy from the slums."

Update: More information added. The editors of Shonen Jump Alpha noted that the title can be translated as "Bulge of the War Planet" instead of the finalized English title Barrage.

I apologize if this is the wrong spot for this sort of question, but does anyone know how well Viz is when it comes to keeping in color pages in their books? I'm worried that 07-Ghost and Loveless won't come with the pretty color pages. I'll be so disappointed. Thanks for the info guys!

I’d say for the most part, VIZ tends not to print colored pages for the majority of their manga titles, regardless of how a book may have been released in Japan.

I’d also say this is particularly true for their lower-tier manga lines, meaning books retailing for $9.99; and unfortunately, going by the Simon & Schuster website, both 07-Ghost and Loveless are listed with a MSRP of $9.99.

Of course, there’s always a possibility these titles could receive more lavish treatment, but based particularly on the price, I wouldn’t set your expectations too high.

As Junker pointed out, basic VIZ releases don't generally contain colored pages (1 or 2, if you're lucky in a normal release). That said, Loveless is also getting the omnibus treatment, and if VIZ's omnibus releases are anything to go by, that is where you'll be seeing the colored pages.

07-Ghost is probably not going to have any colored pages, with exception to the first opening page or two.

Thanks guys. I was wondering if they'd keep it in because I have the Tokyopop versions of Loveless and the Go-Comi versions of 07-Ghost. Except for vol 4 of Loveless TP didn't put in the colored page. >_>

VIZ Media announced that they will be releasing the newest volume of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's Neon Genesis Evangelion manga in print and digital editions the same day it debuts in Japan.

VIZ will participate in the upcoming same-day worldwide release of Volume 13 of Neon Genesis Evangelion on November 2nd. The graphic novel will hit retailers across North America and will carry an MSRP of $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN. The volume will also be available on VIZManga.com and the VIZ Manga App for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, and will be available for $4.99 U.S. / CAN.

The last volume of the Sadamoto manga, which started before the TV series, was released in Japan two years ago.

Viz Media announced on Wednesday that they will be publishing the late Project Itoh's Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots novel in English under their Haikasoru imprint. The novel will go on sale on June 19 with a retail price of US$15.99, and will be available in various eBook formats in addition to a print edition.

The story is connected to the Metal Gear Solid series, and follows Solid Snake as he tries to stop Liquid Ocelot from hacking the Sons of the Patriots nanotechnology network.

Viz has also published Itoh's Harmony novel, which received a Special Citation honor at the 2011 Philip K. Dick Awards ceremony.
