Default Re: Voca Nico Night, impressions (preliminary)

This was simultaneously awesome, and an exercise in the most utterly outrageous forms of frustration. Hate NND so much right now. I didn't even get to finish it...

Hell yeah it starts off awesome. The nico comment walls are pretty amazing.
#8Prince - Distorted Princess
#8Prince - Mad Lovers
#8Prince - Free
#8Prince - Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya! (Sexy - Synthesizer remix)
- "Do the Japanese people realize what this song has done to the internet?" lol...
- Surprsed some of the English commenters don't realize Nyancat was originally from a vocaloid thing.
#8Prince - Electric Star
#8Prince - Keep Only One Love (emon remix)
#8Prince - Killer Lady
#8Prince - Ai Kotoba (#8Prince remix)
- This one won the survey, barely. Heh, must be a little disappointing when your new song loses to a remix of someone else's... though when it's something as epic as Ai Kotoba I guess you can't feel too bad.
#8Prince - Baby Maniacs
#8Prince - Sweet Devil
- ...And then stupid piece of crap nico cuts out and it takes like 3 hours to get it to load again. Now to see how much more I can watch before it dies again.
#8Prince - Happy Synthesizer (#8Prince remix)
- Looooove this song.
#8Prince - mysterious
- New song! I need to catch up on vocaran, I'm guessing this one will be there soon.
#8Prince - Electric Love
- His last song. I find #8 hit or miss when just listening to his stuff for its own sake, but god he's awesome in this kind of setting. DJing is totally what he was made for. I like how he takes the camera off his little booth and whirls it around the crowd.
- A lot of the English commenters are talking about how cute #8 is, heh.

Up next, SmileR! Heh it takes him a little while to get ready and the host wasn't prepared to fill time.
SmileR - Melody Line
- His shirt/jacket is so distracting. It's... french fries. o_O
SmileR - Twinkle
- Junky cover time. And goddamn the people commenting on English nico are fucking retards. In addition to the obvious trolls, you have the idiots who fall for the troll bait. Time to turn the comments off.
SmileR - Highway
SmileR - Nisoku Hokou
- Fucking loooove this song, still my favorite DECO*27 Miku song.
- There's actually a reasonable number of girls in the audience.
- And the fucking buffering is starting again.
SmileR - Time Machine
- Not 40mP's Time Machine, SmileR's own.
SmileR - Romeo to Cinderella
SmileR - Eh? Aa, sou.
SmileR - Senbonzakura
- Lots of covers from SmileR, but he has a smaller number of original songs, so not surprising.
- I need to find the MMD version of this
- Another freeze, argh it's going to cut out on my again soon.
- And that's the end of his part. He was on for a while, though I don't think as long as #8. He was pretty good, but #8 was a bit more exciting.

Now it's Yuyoyuppe's turn! I think he's on drugs, ahaha.
Yuyoyuppe - Next Stage (Yuyoyuppe remix)
- Starting off with a cover of Muryoku. Yuyo is sooooo into this, it's awesome.
Yuyoyuppe - Hoshikuzu Utopia
- Lukaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I can never have enough Luka. Man I'm going to die if he doesn't do Leia or Palette.
Yuyoyuppe - Palette
- Speaking of! Oh god it's awesome.
Yuyoyuppe - Leia
- Okay I'm set. <3 Although lol it's barely recognizable with all the WUBWUBWUB.
Yuyoyuppe - Electric Love (Yuyoyuppe remix)
- Haha, this again.
Yuyoyuppe - Sweet Float Apartment
- And there we go, it completely died again and I need to refresh, which means who knows when the hell this will finish. Argh.
- ...And finallhy I got it back, sort of.
Yuyoyuppe - Hope
Yuyoyuppe - Lost Story
Yuyoyuppe - Baka wa Anomaly ni Akogareru
Yuyoyuppe - Ama no Jaku
- This is definitely one of the better remixes from him. I like this better than the original.
Yuyoyuppe - Against
Yuyoyuppe - Leia (#8Prince remix)
- His last song, a really nice remix of Leia.
- Maaaaaaan, Yuyoyuppe was a monster. Occasionally a bit too WUBWUB-y for me, but overall, really awesome, definitely the best crowd interaction.

I feel bad for Kikuo having to follow up on that. He already looks very... subdued. Hopefully he keeps the tension up. Have to say, I only have one Kikuo song on my playlist, so I don't know him as well as some of the others.
Kikuo - Gomen ne, Gomen ne
- Well this is a major change of pace, haha.
- And then suddenly it comes alive. Oh shit, this song is awesome (but the lyrics are exceptionally fucked up holy crap).
- Oh hey it's dying again. This is the worst. I can barely get 20 minutes before it shits out on me now.
Kikuo - Koufuku na Shi wo
Kikuo - Chiri Chiri Juso
- Haha oh I know this song. It's so bizarre, and... arrrrgh dying again.
Kikuo - Tengoku e Ikou
Kikuo - Infinite Dream
Kikuo - Mono wo Parapara Kowasu
- PARAPARAPARAPARAPARAPARAPARAPARAPARAPARAPARAPARAPA RAPARAPARAPARAPARAPARA
Kikuo - Tiger Rampage

And I give up here, 2 hours and 37 minutes in, because neither NND site is at all capable of delivering the video to me for . I watched this on and off all day to get even that much of it viewed. Ugh.

Now I need to hope someone gets a decent rip out so i can finish the damn thing. I'm gonna be really pissed if I never get to see kz.

While it is a live vocaloid event, I'm not too hot on watching what's essentially DJ sets. For me, its cool for a bit, but then its get boring - this is something I'd would rather be at in person. Ill wait for a rip to check it out at some point.

I hate the nico. comment system. It gets in the way of the actual video I want to watch (good thing one can turn it off). At VO, someone posted a clip of kz spinning Tell Your World and who capped it kept the nico comments on and you can barely see anything.

I think DaniwellP is proud of himself. I personally like his PI song better though (and its educational!).

Wubwub? He was playing some dubstep remixes? I do wonder if there is any other good vocaloid dubstep outside of the one song by Clean Tears (who is awesome btw if you like good trance).

Contrary to what I said in the beginning, watching kz live is pretty cool though - so much energy. I saw some YouTube clips of him spinning at a non-vocaloid event and also when he was performing at Miku's live concert on August 20008 that celebrated her first birthday.

I meant walls literally, like the entire four walls of the club space had live nico comments streaming on them. Obviously a static rip with no options to turn comments off if wanted can be annoying though.

Yeah, whatever that stuff is called. I can take it in small doses because I generally never hear it, and he was soooo good at working the crowd. It was a little much when his versions of Palette and Leia sounded the same and were barely recognizable though. Rest of the set was really good.

Oh, shit. That's actually pretty awesome having the walls show live nico comments.

If the LQ rip has decent audio quality, I might watch it. Probably get around to checking it out this week.

Default Re: Live mini-concerts at SEGA Joyopolis

Someone uploaded a short clip of the live show at SEGA's Joypolis amusement center on youtube - DEAD LINK.

Miku starts at the 50 second mark and we get to see her perform Weekender Girl for like a minute. Too bad the person filming it didn't do the best job, but it's currently the only video I've found on youtube (might be more NND though).

I wish I was there....

Finally got around to watching the second half of this via the rip.

I started back at the beginning of Kikuo's set. Man I really enjoyed his stuff. He seemed to get more and more into it as he went, and of course the crowd went crazy at Roshin Yuukai (aka Meltdown). And goddamn Chiri Chiri Juso was so twisted sounding. It was like some form of dark voodoo ritual was being performed. I half expected a human sacrifice.

KKK_KKK... well. He tried I guess. This was one that was better to listen to than watch. All the other DJs have been really into it, even Kikuo's more sombre style didn't stop him from being really active and totally leaning into that mixing board. But K_K stood there as if he were backstage and nobody could see him. Occasionally he'd look like he was getting into it, but then just kinda went back to nervously looking over his board again. And I don't know what he was doing to World's End Dancehall, he just applied some really random skips and fades to it regardless of how it sounded. Ergh, I almost feel bad criticizing, but he was by and large just way below the standards everyone else set. I thought SmileR was a little timid compared to #8 or Yuyo but he was totally nuts compared to K_K.

kz finally came to close it out, and he was great. Opening with Weekender Girl, then into a remix of supercell's Love is War, then Fly Away from the Tell Your World EP. He also did an instrumental, which normally would be weird at a Vocaloid event... but it was damn good so it's okay. What was weird was Touch Me, the non-Vocaloid vocal track. I want to hear Miku and friends! This one was okay but I was mooore than ready to transition from it to... Yellow! And hahahah, for this song he borrowed on SmileR's french fry jacket. XD I also really want to go watch the MMD PV playing for it next. After Yellow was good old Finder, then Jubilee, also from the Tell Your World EP. But naturally, he has to end on... Tell Your World itself. Amazing. <3

While watching Binbougami-ga, I noticed that the OP "Make my Day" was composed by Samfree. Looks like the song is sung by someone named Piko (doesn't seem to be the Utau version either...had to look it up).

Day 2 stream: http://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv101536025

2012/08/25, 18:30 JST:

Toku
Kei

2012/08/26, 18:30 JST:
Marasy
Yairi
Oster Project
doriko
buzzG
devilishP
Suzumu

They played kemu stuff for Suzumu in the PV, so I looked it up and he's collaborated with kemu on some tracks. Definitely a good lineup. Oster with her recorder was pretty cute.

Got both timeshift reserved. Let's see if Nico's streams are as ungodly shitty as humanly possible yet again! I'll probably have to hope for another rip.

Default Supercell - Odds & Ends PV

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm18592204
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUzLUGKwQJc

Nico has better quality but that might just be because I've got a Premium account.

Anyway, absolutely love the song and the PV both. And man that Miku tuning is really unique. I couldn't tell if it was a V3 voicebank or just supercell's unusual tuning, but I believe it's the latter.

Graphig head robot was adorable. And I assume that was ryo himself on the piano?

Can't wait to get this CD.

Yeah, this has become stuck in my head since I saw the video yesterday. I ordered the Blu-ray Limited Edition of the CD just now. If only I knew how to make those paper graphig models which it comes with.
