I can smell the second season of Kuroko's Basketball already. I wonder if this will manage to average 10,000 by the time the final volume comes out.

If it keeps sitting in the top 20, yeah... it's got to drop eventually, but if it continues to be as well received as it has been I won't be too shocked. There's a long time until release week though.

Default Re: 2012 07/23~07/29 Anime 30/10 List

Miscellaneous notes:

- Updated the 2011 average sales thread for the first time in about two months. We won't have final 2011 data for a very long time yet, but we're pretty far into everything by now, and done most.

- Started a 2012 average sales post. Super super premature, and I almost didn't do it because of that but I want to get an alternative to the Vol. 1 lists up, because judging sales purely by Vol. 1 isn't a good idea. These numbers will, of course, change drastically over time. Hopefully I can keep it updated at least monthly, but feel free to poke me for an update if I've gone more than 3-4 weeks without one.

Also, please try not to reply directly to the yearly posts or vol. 1 posts; I'm trying to keep those sections of the thread clean so posts can be found easily. Just drop a comment in reply to this, or under the "miscellaneous" subthread, or under the latest weekly data post.

So it looks like 2012 already has almost as many solid 5000-9999 series as 2011 with less than two full seasons solicited. Some of them might drop below 5k in the end, but most won't. Only Saki is in any danger of that and I think it'll at least hold the 4k line. But 2012 is far behind on 10k+ series, which is probably why there are so many 5-9k shows.

Spring will add Fate/Zero, and Summer will add Horizon, and probably SAO. Some others have an outside chance (notably Muv Luv) but assuming they don't, that brings us to 6, if Kuroko holds on. That's 9 short of 2012 with only one season remaining after. Now Fall looks like it ought to be huge (LB!, Robotics, Darkness, Chuuni, Hidamari, and Hayate all have at least a modest chance) but even if everything pans out we're still a good ways below 2012.

Of course four of 2011's 10k series were 10-12k, and that's not a huge difference over a few 2012 series that might do 9k. 2012 also appears to have less outright bombs so far than 2011.

Heh... BD version sells one more copy (averaged) than DVD, and it's given a full percentage point more, so that the total ends up being 101%. ^^;

Use decimals out seven or eight places! ;p

Additions to the DVD list! And quite a few of them, wow. Including Hyouka, thank goodness. I don't think I've seen that many anime releases in the DVD top 100 since the new format came out.
BD threshold still sucks though.

Spring update:
Sakamichi v1 sells 2,037 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Hyouka v2 sells 7050/1096 for 8,146, up 4% on v1 wk1. Impressive, though wk1 added 1621 in wks 2-3 so we'll see how v2 does. It's fared much better than most of the other titles that started last month.

AKB0048 v2 sells 3239/1086 for 4,325, down 40.8% on v1. Yeah, v1 was super inflated by the discount.

Tsuritama v2 sells 2067/1786 for 3,853. Down 14.3% on v1.

QB Rebellion v2 sells 2405/1077 for 3,482, only 7.4% down on v1.

Jormungand v2 sells 3,365 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Down 3.8% from v1 wk1 BD, so it's consistent at least.

Kanojo X v2 sells 2,554 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Down 12.6% on v1 wk1 BD.

KoreZom 2 sells 2,086 BDs, DVDs do no rank. Down 16.9% on v2 in a rather large tumble. Closer to v1 wk1 though.

Natsu-iro v2 sells 2,018 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Down 34.6% on v1 wk1 BD and since DVDs didn't rank, they must ave dropped by literally half, at least (1,611 last time, threshold 823 this week). Big collapse after the discounted v1, as I kinda expected.

Tasogare v2 sells 1,880 BDs, down 8.7% on v1. Being Silver Link is suffering, apparently.

Winter update:
Symphogear v5 sells 3,404 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Maybe we'll get a >100 estimate like last volume. DVD sales have been very consistent for this show, though. Max 3631 (v1 not counting wk2), min 3404 (v5).

Lagrange v5 sells 2,435 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Up 5% on v3 wk1.

Another v5 sells 1,889 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

ZnT F v6, final volume, sells 1,636 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Final average: 2,269.

Past seasons:
Shana III v8, final volume, sells 2576/1018 for 3,594. Final average, 3,897. Low, but consistent. Ah well.

Last Exile Fam v7, final volume, sells 2,432, up 10.8% on v6 wk1. Final average, 2,657.

Mirai Nikki v8 sells 1,534 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Gundam AGE v6 sells 1,523 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
n/a

I just realized this means the Manabi Straight BD box sold less than 1,470. ;_; Damnit.

Ah, forgot to update v1s for the 06/18 full Thursday list in general. Fixed Hiiro too.
You also forgot to mark Zetman as ranked in BD-only.

Glad we didn't need to rely on the >100 DVD list for Hyouka, because the first guidepost rank isn't until way down at #168, making estimates almost impossible.

2012 07/23~07/29 DVD >100 List

The gap between #98 and #168 is too bit to provide an estimate for Sakamichi or Medaka. Shining Hearts I could maybe do but let's see if any later volumes have a better estimate. I'd also rather not give it an estimate but not the other two and make it seem like they sold less than Shining Hearts. So what we know:

Sakamichi no Apollon v1: 483-823
Medaka Box v1: 483-823
Shining Hearts v1: 309-483

We can say ~300 for Sankarea v2 since just 2 spots ahead is 309. No BD rank this time though.
And let's say 315 for AnoNatsu v5, just 1 spot ahead of 309. This is the first time we have a DVD estimate for AnoNatsu, for what it's worth.

Default Mizuki Nana vs AKB0048

This week I'm probably more interested in seeing the result of the battle between Mizuki Nana's "Bright Stream" and No Name's AKB0048 OP/ED Single.

Bright Stream seems to be leading at the moment due to the fact that you get not only the Nanoha A's movie theme, but also the Dog Days' OP "Fearless Hero"
