07-GHOST and Strobe Edge are both new (for Viz anyway). They haven't even had their first volumes released yet. The first book for Jiu Jiu just came out last month.

True. But normally announcements are made almost a year in advance. And so were that series (+ that demon something). So I'm just making a point where nothing was announced to substitute the series that are ending (and others that already ended this year).

Plus there are a lot of things ending in 1-3 volumes (bakuman, excel saga, inuviz big + things like slam dunk, nura, psyren will end between this next year and the begining of the one next to it). So I'm curious to see if they have a lot of things in hand for us in the future. Plus more things that are catch up with japan making less releases per month.

Well this is just my opinion, I'm hoping that we will see new blood starting in summer '13.

With this said I'm looking forward to the Strobe Edge release. Read it online and it's a pretty good shoujo.

That would be nice. Their manga line is looking a bit thin at the moment.

Bakuman still has volumes 13 to 20, Nura has volumes 10 to at least volume 23 (with more coming in Japan even though the series has ended), Psyren has volumes 6 to 19 left. The only one of those three to end next year will be Bakuman and all of them have more than "1-3 volumes" left.

I'm looking at those Solicitations... you see bakuman 19 (out of 20). The nura is after my ''+'' so its not in that group (of the 1-3 left).
Psyren is 16 volumes and it will end the year after the next one (2014) probably same with nura. Slam dunk should end in December or so.

A Devil and Her Love Song - 13 volumes (complete). Solicitations are appearing every two months, putting this at volume 11 by December 2013 (if there are no changes.

Bakuman - 20 volumes (complete). Solicitations every two months, so the series should be scheduled to end its run here by July 2013.

Black Bird - 16 volumes (on-going). While currently on-going, it runs in a monthly magazine, and volume 16 is due out here in May 2013, and there is no [Japanese] solicitation for volume 17 yet.

Bokurano: Ours - 11 volumes (complete). Volume 8 due out April 2013, so 6-months/volumes (which is seemingly now the standard for all Signature Series releases by VIZ), so we won't see the ending of this until mid/late-2014.

Claymore - 22 volumes (on-going). Volume 22 is due out May 2013, and who knows if the series will be continuing regular monthly serialization in Japan.

Dawn of the Arcana - 10 volumes (on-going). It's been on a 1 volume/2 months schedule since its release, and volume 9 is due out April 2013. We'll likely be caught up in Fall 2013.

Dengeki Daisy - 12 volumes (on-going). Volume 12 is due out May 2013, putting us on-par with this monthly series next year.

Excel Saga - 27 volumes (complete). Volume 25 is due out April 2013, and seeing releases every 5 months (as of volume 23 in April 2012). Volume 26 should be out in September, and 27 (final volume) should be out in February 2014.

Fushigi Yûgi: Genbu Kaiden - 11 volumes (on-going). Volume 11 is due out March 2013, which will have us on-par with Japanese releases.

Hunter x Hunter - 30 volumes (hiatus). Volume 30 is due out May 2013, and still no word on when Togashi is/will be returning to serialization.

Inuyasha [VIZBIG Edition] - 58 single volumes (complete). Volume 15 [VIZBIG] is due out May 2013, with a release every 3 months. Omnibus volumes contain 3 vols/release - putting us at 48 volumes as of Volume 15. Should only see 3 more releases, finishing around February 2014.

Kamisama Kiss - 13 volumes (on-going). Volume 13 is due out April 2013, with 1 volume every 2 months. Will be caught up in mid-2013.

Kimi ni Todoke - 16 volumes (on-going). Releases have slowed in 2012 now that we're essentially on-par for Japanese releases. Volume 16 is due out April 2013.

La Corda d'Oro - 17 volumes (complete). Volume 17 is due out May 2013, finishing this series after beginning print in 2006 in the US.

Library Wars: Love & War - 10 volumes (on-going). Volume 9 is due out April 2013. Volume 10 shouldn't be released until early 2014.

Oresama Teacher - 13 volumes (on-going). Volume 13 is due out February 2013, which will put us up to date with Japanese releases.

Psyren - 16 volumes (complete). Volume 10 is due out May 2013, with releases every 2 months. Series should be complete by May 2014.

Rosario+Vampire: Season II - 11 volumes (on-going). Volume 11 is due out March 2013, which will put us up to date with Japanese releases.

Saturn Apartments - 7 volumes (complete). Volume 7 is due out May 2013, finishing its run from 2010.

Slam Dunk - 31 volumes (complete). Volume 27 is due out April 2013, with releases every 2 months. Series should be finished December 2013.

Stepping on Roses - 9 volumes (complete). Volume 9 is due out February 2013, which will finish its US run.

Strobe Edge - 10 volumes (complete). Volume 4 is due out May 2013, with releases every 2 months. Series should be finished in May 2014.

Tenjo Tenge [Full Contact Edition] - 22 volumes (complete). Volume 11 [Full Contact Edition, 3-in-1] is due out February 2013, which will finish its US run.

Vampire Knight - 16 volumes (on-going). Volume 16 is due out March 2013, which will make us up to date with Japanese releases.

We Were There - 16 volumes (complete). Volume 16 is due out May 2013, which will finish its US run.

X/1999 [3-in-1] - 18 volumes (hiatus). Omnibus 6 (v16-18) is due out April 2013. Given that the series has been on hiatus in Japan since 2003, we can mostly consider this manga done.

*Bold titles scheduled/estimated to end US run in 2013

---

Rounded up a few of the titles that people were questioning and talking about and dug a tiny bit into them. If estimates hold up, as in -- VIZ maintains steady release schedules, we should see 9 of the above series ending their US run, another 5 series estimated to end their run in 2014, and the remaining 12 series will essentially be up-to-date on Japanese releases (meaning a lot of waiting in between volumes).

26 series in total will essentially be off regular release dates within 2013/by the end of 2014. And that's just from this list. There are a number of other series on hiatus that we've caught up to (Black Lagoon caught up, on-hiatus - DOGS is nearly caught up, Blue Exorcist is caught up with mostly; just to name a few). VIZ is definitely going to be looking pretty thin by the end of 2013.

That's a lot of series dropping out (even if only considering the 14 series that will have ended their run by 2014). Since 2010, VIZ has only added 6 new series (07-GHOST, 21st Century Boys, Blue Exorcist, Dawn of the Arcana, Demon Love Spell and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's); this does not include any SJ Alpha digital acquisitions. I don't believe I'm missing anything, but please do correct me if I'm wrong. One of those series will be done with in 2013, and two more will be caught up on. Not much continuing power from those handful of licenses.

Now, this post isn't meant to be pessimistic or negative in tone. I hope people don't take it as that, I just simply wanted to figure out where VIZ is headed -- in regards to what/how much is released. I'm hopeful that they'll have at least one license announcement (for print) before 2012 is up, but who knows, maybe VIZ has planned to scale back all along. Only time will tell.

It seems to be the only volume I'll get. I wonder if the Mangaka has an idea how many chapters this will be.

I was a little worried with the absence of Eva Omnibuses.

Also thanks ToAruOni that analysis was great, it shows what I was trying to say and goes well beyond. Just missing Strobe edge and Jiujiu on the ''Since 2010, VIZ has only added 6 new series'' I don't remember any more, still is even less than I though.

Let's hope for the best.
