Hitoma Iruma's Arata-naru Sekai Complete Box Due in October

Arata-naru Sekai, the mixed-media project from creator Hitoma Iruma (Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko), manga artist Kendi Oiwa (Goth, Tsukumo Happy Soul, Welcome to the N.H.K.), and anime studio MADHOUSE, will ship in a Complete Box on October 20. The 9,240-yen (about US$118) box will contain the 144-page "Past" manga, the 264-page "Present" novel, and the "Future" anime Blu-ray Disc and DVD.

Worse. Just saw a new ANN article on it. It's a "mixed media project". There's three parts: Past, Present and Future. "Past" is a manga, "Present" is a novel, "Future" is the anime OVA. So yeah, its the last part of a story.

Those character designs look very nice and its by the DenpaOnna author and I'm just generally intrigued by it despite knowing nothing about the story, but.... fuck.

Yeah that was the other thing that made me less interested. There was still potential for it to tell a self-contained story in the anime, or at least flashback to the other timelines enough to tell the story, if it were a 1 cour TV series. No way that'll happen to a sufficient degree in an OVA though. Especially since all three are being sold together, so their target audience has no excuse not to get all three.

Maybe if it does well we'll see a TV series.
