Anime Sales in Japan - 2012

I was expecting +20k for the first volume of SAO... but from what I've seen it could do 30k. Either way there's still more than a month to know.

Also interesting to see the rise of the older volumes of hyouka.

It's nice when major releases are split over two weeks. This week and last week were a little more manageable than most months. It does make second weeks for last week's titles tough though.
Oh and a big jump for Symphogear, wow.
Last but certainly not least, about 25k opening week for the March Miku concerts! Yay~


Spring update:
Upotte v1 sells 1,282 BDs, DVDs sold 401 or less.

Accel World v2 sells 6940/1652 for 8,592. Only down 6% on v1 wk1, I thought it would drop a bit more.

Hyouka v3 sells precisely 1 copy more than v2 wk1. Consistency much? 7035/1112 for 8,147. I wonder when the second week will start dropping below 1k. If it sells at least 900 it'll be over 9k three volumes in a row. I guess it'll start dropping more when the anime finishes airing, so maybe next volume.

QB Rebellion v3 sells 2323/1037 for 3,360. Down 3.5% on v2.

Jormungand v3 sells 3,178 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

KoreZom OTD v4 sells 2,071 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Still at that 2k BDs mark it loves so much.

Tasogare v3 sells 1,817 BDs, DVDs do not rank. The Silver Link curse continues.

SenColle v5 sells 1,313 DVDs, BDs on Thursday maybe.

Medaka Box v2 sells 795 BDs, DVDs do not rank. This is the first volume we have numbers for.

KuroBas v2 adds 1858/2646 for 19,822. v2 is going to pass v1, which means we probably don't have v1's true sales numbers.

Nyaruko-san v3 adds 970 BDs, total 7,136. Down 5.1% on v2.



Winter update:
HS DxD v6, final volume, sells 6614/2241 for 8,855. Only a bump of 100 over v5, so with a current average of 9,673, 10k seems out of reach, slightly. It would need to add another 2k copies almost.

Symphogear v6, final volume, sells 5184/1030 for 6,214. Wow, what? I saw it was doing unusually well on Stalker, but I don't see anything in the item description about an event ticket or anything. Yet in one week it's kicked even v1's ass by 22%. That increases the average to 4,736. [Edit: ok it is event-related, now it makes a lot more sense.]

Aquarion Evol v5 sells 4416/1318 for 5,734.

Another v6, final volume, sells 1,956 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Final average, 2,507.

Brave 10 v6, final volume, sells 1,384 DVDs, BDs do not rank. Final average, 2,905.

Nisemonogatari v5, final volume, adds 3851/979 for 58,185. All volumes from v2-v5 are now within a few hundred copies and all over 58k. Current average is: 59,579. It needs to add another 2,105 total BDs from any volume to average 60k. Or less if DVDs add some. If it happens it'll probably be in the monthly or yearly rankings.

InuBoku v6 adds 719/795 DVDs, total 8,500. That catches it up to previous volumes.

Shin TeniPri v3 adds 1230 DVDs for 7,214 total, keeping it over 7k.



Past seasons:
Haganai v6, final volume, sells 7586/2107 for 9,693, basically the same as v5. No bump at all. Next week will take this volume over 10k, probably 10.4k. Such a consistent show. Current final average, 11,024.

Persona 4 v10, the final volume, adds 2308/1182 for 38,249. Up 43% on v9's total so far. Current average, 30,775.

Mirai Nikki v9, final volume, sells 1,627 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Final average: 1,764 (BD only).

Guilty Crown v8 adds 824 BDs, total 6,438. Bigger second week than last volume, so the total is only 2.4% behind v7 now.

Vol 6 comes with a serial number that allows you entry into a lottery for a ticket to the live concert in October. Since it involves Mizuki Nana, people bought multiple volumes in order to get multiple serial numbers.

Tari Tari vol. 1 comes with a entry ticket that you use to apply on the internet to a Tari Tari event that's being held in Enoshima at the end of September. Don't know if you already knew this or if it has already been posted!

Yep, been keeping a list of Vol. 1s with event-related extras or discounts here. We'll have to see what sort of an impact that has on how sales drop for Vol. 2 for this and other shows.
