Even if I had purchased the Japanese box, I might have double-dipped for this US release, because Aniplex seems to be doing it right. I still haven't seen any more than the first episode via fansubs, but with the character commentaries announced I'll probably be placing a pre-order in a day or two.

I bought AniplexUSA's Madoka LEs, after having purchased the import LEs. ^^;

Then again, I'll admit to double-dipping even when it's a bare-bones release. I bought ADV's K-On!! BDs after having imported... For some reason I still tolerate ADV, but I'm far less likely to double-dip a Funi release.

I got an answer earlier this afternoon from AoA in regards to the "3 Blu-ray cases inside Rigid Box with Key art." I was told that the "Rigid Box" will be a chipboard artbox.

Looks amazing. Just preordered this. At least it won't hurt nearly as much as the Garden of Sinners set, but really there was no way I could resist buying that one. This on the other hand is at least somewhat of a blind buy since I've only seen the first episode.

It's hard to explain why I liked what I saw of Bakemonogatari but not Katanagatari. It might just be that I didn't find Katanagatari's deluge of dialogue as interesting. Plus I really hate shows that have an uncultured retard as the main character (well, Dragon Ball being the exception). The supernatural elements of Bakemonogatari intrigued me, and the wordy dialogue had a lot meta-conversation (that is, conversation about the conversation) which I thought was really funny, but might get old eventually.

At the very least given what we are going to be paying for this set, we get a chipboard box, which they didn't give us for their other sets. Everything is looking pretty nice.
