Loving the price and the no 7th disc BS. After watching the first episode, I think I'm going to add this to the Fall 2012 import list.

You don't have to physically walk over to an Animate or Gamers retail store to get the box, right? Just ordering online will get me the box? Anyone know when they usually show what the box will look like so people can decide where to order from?

Also, do you have to sign up for it/pre-order all 6 volumes at the same time or something?

Box art usually comes late, but more recent series have had sketches at the bare minimum around the time of the first volume's release if not earlier. As for your first question, it varies depending on store. I know some will include stickers that you have to collect and mail in to get a box, but I'm not sure how these two stores do that. Animate likely doesn't require you to do it because darktruth was able to get the Fate/Zero BD-Box Animate Box with no issues.

Thanks, doesn't seem like it will be an issue (except for paying MRSP, of course!). Guess I'll wait and check for samples.

Thanks a lot.

You may think I'm dumb, but, do someone know what they mean by "display"? I wanted a box, but it seems like HMV won't send it oversea ( " The novelty of whole series is not applied for overseas customer. " via mail) and buying from animate/Gamers will cost a lot if a deputy service is needed...

So, what's a "display"?

This is one of those cardboard displays that's used for advertising. Here's five that were used for advertising the Haruhi movie in theatres. HMV lists almost every bonus as "not applied to overseas customers." Sometimes you'll get the bonus and sometimes you won't. It's likely we'll get the bromides and possibly the postcards. The box may be more unlikely IMO.

Vol. 1 pre-ordered from HMV so fingers crossed that they will have the most bad ass box in anime history. The placeholder image at Amazon.jp as artwork for the front of the box would kill me with joy.

You just reminded me I have ¥4,236 in points to use at HMV. Ugh, that's enough that I can't bring myself to let them expire, but not nearly enough to justify buying a whole series at HMV for a box (not when I import 5-7 shows a season anyway). The huge extra costs of buying from HMV would eat up the points in no time. Unless I ordered them all in one order, but screw waiting until the last volume. I'm not that patient.

I have to use them on something though. I'm not letting ~$53 just rot. At least they're good until May.

Per volume there's "only" a difference of ¥800-¥1000 between Amz and HMV. I've ordered from there before and I don't think I paid anything on top of the $12 or so for shipping. With your points the difference shouldn't be more than ~¥3k or something? All depends on how much you want the bromides and the box though. All of my KyoAni animes has boxes (Haruhi, LS, Hyouka, K-On! + movie, Clannad) so I really wanted a box for this as well. The problem is of course that they won't ship the box overseas, so you'd have to take proxy fees/Tenso fee into account aswell.

And yes, I had to copy+paste ¥ and ~ from your post!

Because of the number of items I order, I only tend to pay $4.50-$5.50/item for S&H at amazon. Paying even $12 a disc at HMV * 6 discs (again, I don't want to wait until they're all out) would be like $40+ in extra S&H right there, not counting the higher cost per disc for basic pricing.

I mean... okay the cost isn't really the issue per se, not with how much I'm spending overall this year on imports (I prefer not to think about that number) so it shouldn't be a big deal, but I don't like the idea of paying more for a box that might end up being pretty crap for all I know (not really interested in the bromides). If there were an image out now it might be different.
