Default FUNimation licenses Blood-C and Blood-C: The Last Dark

17:52:46 <bay|AX|FUNi> there is a movie coming...
17:52:48 <bay|AX|FUNi> Blood-C

FUNimation has acquired the broadcast, home entertainment, streaming and mobile rights to the complete anime series, Blood-C, as well as the movie Blood-C: The Last Dark. Production I.G and CLAMP co-produced the project directed by Tsutomu Mizushima, best known for directing Big Windup! and Squid Girl.

Series synopsis:
Saya Kisaragi is a clumsy girl with a secret. She attends school, goes to the café with her friends and is always in a rush during the day. At night she becomes a hunter, protecting her town from monsters. As she battles these monsters she finds herself faced with uncertainty regarding her identity and purpose. In order to protect her friends Saya must become stronger or else face turning into a monster herself. Additional information can be found at http://www.funimation.com/blood-c

The series was so bad, but the movie looks so good. I don't know what I'll end up doing with this one, but I'm likely to regret it...

There are fans?

I'm not one. I forced myself to watch the terrible TV series, but I haven't paid any attention to the movie at all. I just can't get myself to even bother to look at a trailer (not that I ever look at trailers/PVs for anime)...

Oh, Funi got both the series and the movie. Cool.

This is quite easily the absolute worst anime of the decade so far. Right next to Gundam Age.

Blood-C, Sankarea, Future Diary ETA late Spring, early Summer 2013. All 3 series had good streaming numbers so BD is possible for them

I think my interest on the movie has gone up a bit more now...

Got to watch Shiotani's BLOOD-C movie. Time to rant about Angry Nana Mizuki's kickass adventure to find true (yuri) love!

For starters: Yes, it works fine as a standalone. You can spare yourself the stupid series and jump into this without a worry.

The pacing is deliciously hectic. The film starts off with non-stop action for about 20 minutes and doesn't let you go until the end.

Unsurprisingly, the movie's just gorgeous. The animation is, from fighting scenes to trippy nightmares, consistently excellent.

Amazing storyboarding, especially for the crazy action, nice camerawork as well. The CGi is great and seamlessly implemented in most cases.

There's even a tentacle itano circus! Truly a feast for sakuga fans. All of it coupled with a sufficiently badass OST, A+ production values.

On the bad side, you have the abrupt last battle and ending. It just... ends. Quite an unrewarding way to finish such a cool action movie.

The whole thing is pretty unoriginal as well. I guess Shiotani couldn't do more with the setting, but it doesn't even feel like he tried.

Not fond of the cast either, they're just not interesting in any way. I don't want kids playing super-hacker on my action movies.

tl;dr BLOOD-C The last Dark is a very simple but perfectly executed movie about a badass girl slaughtering monsters. Watch it.

Just as I suspected. From the trailers alone I assumed you could ignore the complete tragedy which was the Blood-C TV series and go into the movie without a problem. I'm just going to also assume that they completely ignore everything which happened in the TV series and start off as fresh as possible.
