Hmm... Interesting... It seems that, other than the disc labels/"art", this set has nothing in common with the Japanese release as far as packaging goes. Baccano!'s US release was a simpler version of the Japanese set, but Drrr!!'s Japanese BD box (AmazonJP's image of the set) used different art on the box and on the digipaks, has a long (~49"x7"), piece of heavy paper folded to fit into the box that gives a better look at the digipak art on one side, and basic episode and cast info on the other, and a smaller piece of folded paper with the BD Box art on one side, and credits for the drama/"staff talk" CDs plus tiny images of the R2 DVD and novel cover art on the other side.

I wasn't remembering that the postcards included with the US DVD release were of the Japanese DVD cover art. ^^

Amazon JP's page for the set does include an image of the art used on the US box, but I'm not sure why it's there. I don't think that I overlooked it in the set, and Amazon doesn't usually keep their place-holder images around after proper product images are available. @_@

holy crapballs! $150 bucks? I just heard about this. I Loved Drr, and own the DVD releases. Which, btw have great video quality for a SD series. That being said i always wanted this in HD. But that price.. yikes.

Is this something that I should pre-order or buy now? Im wondering if theres any hope of a price drop. Even just around $125 or so would be more palatable to me. Im just concerned that this may sell out and i'll be out of luck if i wait. ANy word on how many are being made? I dont want to wait and then have it disappear almost immediately . Like what happened with Garden of Sinners... hell wasn't that an aniplex release too?

What do you guys think? Can I risk waiting or is this really a limited print run?

There will be no price drop and it will be a limited run like Baccano. There is also no certain that there will be a cheaper release down the road. The Dvds cost 120 so 150 for it on blu ray isn't that bad. I got my pre order cause I don't want miss out.

Yes, though the Garden of Sinner set was an import release AniplexUSA brought over from Japan, while this one isn't. So the print run should be larger.


Though as mentioned, a price drop certainly won't happen and there's no guarantee of when or even if a cheaper reissue would happen.

However, it certainly isn't impossible. Seeing how both Baccano! and Oreimo have gotten cheaper reissues now. (Garden of Sinners too, but I'm not counting that because of what I mentioned above) It will depend on actual demand though, as everything mentioned had lots of it from what I remember.


That said, if you want most if not all the content in this set, grab it. Since there's really no telling how much of the extras would be left out when/if a reissue happens, aside from the lunchbox itself. Which would almost certainly be removed.

But if you just want HD masters of all the episodes, then waiting it out might be better provided you're content with the possibility of a reissue taking a long while to happen, if one even does happen at all. Of course if it doesn't, that may also mean this set wouldn't of sold out either. So it could still end up working for you either way. No guarantees though, obviously.

Hmm.. wondering why you guys are so certain a price drop wont come. The R.O.D. set actually went on sale last year i think around Xmas and I picked it up then. I was wondering if there was any chance this would as well. I have the whole series on DVD, but really enjoyed it and want it on BD like i have for Baccano! as well. I was just wondering if it may hit a sale point like R.O.D. did but its sounding like thats not very likely.

Garden of Sinners got a re-release? When? I wasn't aware of that. I wanted it on BD but never got a chance, i couldn't find it even in a non LE form. I did get the other ones you mentioned on their LE release though. I almost didn't buy Oreimo since it wasn't BD (seriously, wtf?). That actually reminds me i need to watch them. *Sigh* not sure what to do. It sounds like i may get a cheaper re-issue later, but you guys seem pretty convinced there wont be a price drop on THIS release until it runs out... I do kinda want that swag. I got some thinking to do

And somehow i missed they're doing Bakemonogatari. That reminds me that i never finished watching that series. The shoddy unfinished airing really turned me off at the time. (Not a fan of Shaft)

Also, I love SHAFT, (almost certainly my favorite studio) but to each their own I suppose.

No, I didn't see any damage. The box is loose lengthwise, not widthwise. The tin is about a half inch longer on both ends.
