Well, this works really well for the series.

Oh man, I can already see the drastic inferiority in just the character designs, compared to Fate/Zero. Well I loved Saber, and little Rin was loads of fun in her one episode, so without much more to base it on, I'm alright with this cover for the most part.

F/SN (the anime) is utterly boring, I dropped it after episode 1 and with much pushing by the fans, I read the VN. Holy cow, reading text + still images + audio is much better than DEEN's butchering of the series. Still, I'd get this just to see how much of it was altered and would wait for a complete set (none of that $89.99/no extras crap Sentai)

Nothing wrong with using that cover. It looks great and it suits the show very nicely.

It's time to graduate from here. But there's still some business left.
The only thing better than anime is sports. Get hit hard and you got JACKED UP! Or else it's a C'mon Man!

How'd you know how much they 'butchered' the series if you only saw one episode?

That's often the case when you compare anime series that are 5+ years apart. And compare ufotable to Deen.

I had a similar experience. I started watching it shortly after it finished airing, and got bored after a few episodes. I didn't watch it as a whole until the BluRay set came out in Japan. Finished it, gave it a slightly above average rating, and called it a day. When UBW was announced as a movie, I played the VN due to suggestions from fans of the series. And wow, what a difference the true source material is compared to the adaptation.

And I wouldn't call it a butchering, so much as a typical Deen half-ass adaptation with typical forced Deen merging of routes (still Saber's route as a whole, but they toss in poorly done pieces of UBW and HF).

I wouldn't call the Fate/stay night anime unwatchable. It's definitely nowhere near as good as the visual novel, but it's still worth a watch if you're interested in the series.

Though if you watch Fate/zero then watch the Fate/stay night anime then you're in for a reeeeal big surprise at the drop in quality from the writing to the animation.

I'd recommend Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works though. Sure, it rushes the route and isn't perfect by any means, but it's way better than Fate/stay night. And Shiro isn't stupid in Unlimited Blade Works, nor is he in the visual novel.
