Its the guys, mostly. Also you have to be able to connect the seiyuu to specific other roles.

Cafeteria fight was awesome!!
Flashback to childhood days was nice too. It explained some things about their group. That Kyousuke really is a weird guy with all sorts of ideas. Recruitment for their newly founded baseball team was another weird one. Guess Kyousuke wants to do something memorable his final year.

And so we get the introduction of our second heroine, Komari... Just seeing her gives me diabetes. I found the other characters' reactions to her a lot more enjoyable than anything she actually did herself, to be honest...
The Little Busters have breakfast. Kengo showcases his badass-ness by catching a fly with chopsticks. Then Masato showcases his badass-ness by punching a fly to death. How do you even punch a fly to death? And then another extremely brief fight breaks out with Masato once again getting a completely worthless weapon. Rin's theme gets played for about three seconds while she's playing with the cats, and then Riki reads a note that causes some weird glimpses of several characters who haven't been introduced yet. That's... confusing... They do some cleaning, Komari makes Rin feel unbelievably awkward, Komari completely misses the point a few times, and they go to test her to see if she's good enough to join the baseball team. Quote:
More hijinks ensue, Komari proves to be an absolutely terrible baseball-player and still gets on the team because she gets what's the most important things in baseball, and then Riki falls unconscious and the episode ends. ...So we're now two episodes in, and four out of the six heroines haven't even appeared yet... Or three, if one is generous and counts Mio's shadowed outline as her making an appearance... Are they going to just introduce one new heroine each episode or something? Come on, I'm curious about whether Mio's new voice will be any good, dammit!

OMG Shy Rin is just way too adorable. She's absolutely terrified of Komari, who's pretty much the definition of "completely harmless"
And then forshadowing and whatnot.

At this point, I think this is worse than any Key anime by KyoAni (and P.A. Works, if you count Angel Beats!) but better than any by Toei. So considering all those ones that Toei did also got KyoAni adaptations (and I assume this won't), that's pretty disappointing. Oh well. There's some foreshadowing to serious business in this episode, so hopefully that leads to something good. Also, a panty-viewing scene. Even as minor as it was, that was kind of more fanservice than in 49 episodes of Clannad... At least Riki actually got to be the male lead for that one scene, but that was only because he was only male in it...

To J.C.STAFF:
YOU PASS! This episode managed to erase most of the doubts and anxieties I had after the first episode. They've actually deviated a lot from how the events happen in the game, but in a way that remains true to the spirit of the original. It's an interesting contrast to the first episode, which stuck almost slavishly close to the events of the original but just felt off to me. Komari's route was the first one I completed in the game and she's still one of my favorites among the heroines, so I was really pleased to see the anime do her justice. The whole "guts, courage, and friendship" bit was something I've been waiting to see animated for a long time. Masato shadow-boxing with baseball gloves on made me smile, and Rin flattening him with the door cracked me up. Freeze-framing through the scenes in Riki's "flash-forward" was interesting, though I really hope they don't plan on covering all that in 26 episodes. I do have to sigh at how Alicemagic has already managed to feel horribly out of place just two episodes in, though the end of the episode was kind of overly dramatic to begin with. |

That was certainly better than the first episode.
Lot's more Rin, plus Komari and both were pretty amusing. Guts! Bravery! Friendship! And the scene between the two of them at the end was fairly cute. With that said, neither of them are terribly impressive as overall characters. Komari in particular. There's plenty more characters to meet though. Oh, and fuck you Riki for convincing Komari she can't have a wife. :/

Episode 2:
- I think Komari has brain damage. ...But I love her. - "You didn't see anything. Okay?" Oh god the way she says that. Komari is absolutely amazing. This entire opening exchange was at least 150 times funnier than it should have been. - Heh, man, I can so hear Yanase Natsumi's Chihiro (ef) in Komari. Just less "always on the verge of tears"-sounding. - "Shiawase supairaru!" Komari confirmed for best girl. - "Let's form a band!" I don't think I'd liek Kyousuke half as much if he weren't voiced by Midorikawa Hikaru. He does that "say something ridiculous and play it off nonchalantly" thing so well. - Still don't care about Kengo and have a hard time seeing how Masato will grow on me. But I like everyone else so far. - Rin is skipping out on class duties to train her army of bipedal cats. Be afraid. - Cats. Private armies and a handy message delivery vehicle. Is there anything they can't do? - Riki suffers from narcolepsy? That's an unusual disease in anime. Huh. - Rin is serious about, uh, performing random tasks assigned by anonymous strangers. Go Rin? - Komari again! I don't know how to desribe it, but every time she opens her mouth I feel incredibly warm and happy and (above all) amused inside. She's wonderful. - Rin's reaction to her is adorable. Rin totally is a cat. A cute, skittish little cat absorbed in her own world. <3 - This show is doing a very nice job mixing up the interactions already. I love this budding friendship for Rin and Komari. Rin is still really nervous around her, but Komari's relentless optimism seems to be breaking down Rin's barriers. - Ahahaha, she's drawing Kyousuke in too. Nobody can resist Komari! - KOMARI IS THE BEST BASEBALL PLAYER! Holy crap that was so much better than episode one (which was... good, but only that). Komari is exactly what we needed. Komari + Rin is even better! Komari is gonna befriend the hell out of you, no matter what. <3 Komari

I think this episode can be explained by basic math:
Rin = awesome Komari = awesome Rin x Komari = awesomeČ, which is a whole new plane of awesomeness. |

"Ring Ring Ring" briefly played during the cat scene. It's one of my favorite tracks (also a Maeda one).
I like what Nagai did with this. Hopefully he can do more episodes. Quote:
