I must resist clicking on the links... I don't want to be spoiled... I didn't finish the series and probably won't read the manga after the part in the manga is animated. I'll still buy all the volumes of course to show my support.

Oh, those 12 copies? When a manga book (or an anime disc) is released, it is possible that the free gift given by Shop A to purchasers is different from that given by Shop B to purchasers. Say, Shop A gives manga posters to purchasers whilst Shop B gives manga-themed paper folders to them. (And Shop A may say, 'Please choose one K-ON! poster from Poster Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3.')
So, probably that big fan of K-ON! bought 12 copies of K-ON! Volume 4 at some different bookshops in order to acquire various K-ON! free gifts.

Those links are just to a picture of the dust jacket, a news article, some pics of shops which sell K-ON! highschool and free gifts given to purchasers of K-ON! manga. They are not pics of the contents themselves of K-ON! highschool. So, methinks probably they don't become spoilers actually. ^_^

Well, if it helps a little... I'm in the same boat. Even more for something like K-ON!

This Wikipedia page mentions a 4-koma comedy manga based on Sword Art Online.
The page does not cite a source and ANN does not have any information on it, but I did find scanlations so I know that it really does exist.
I think that it would be a good addition to the wish list.

It is probable that a big fan of anime/manga want various free gifts given by shops to purchasers. Even if you can understand his feeling, you need not be worried about it. ^_^

Another factor which can be taken into account is that otaku often purchase three copies of the same manga.

1. For daily reading.
2. One copy to be preserved in mint condition.
3. One copy to propagate the manga. He/she lends this copy to friends.
