Yay, 2ch came through for us. Looooooots of additions.
Aratanaru Sekai pulls something you're more likely to see from data in 2005 (bigger second week than first).
And wow, Smile Precure more than doubles the BD box sales of Suite Precure.
4,179 BDs for Yuru Yuri live event; 6,444 BD+DVD for InuBoku live event.

Summer update:
Kokoroko v1 sells 2,588 BDs, DVDs do not rank. Maybe you'll crack that losing streak one day, Silver Link.

Hagure Yuusha v2 sells 1557/604, total 2,161.

Lagrange S2 v2 sells 1,895 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Dakara Boku wa H v2 sells 1,685 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

KoiChoco v2 sells 1,437 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Spring update:
Eureka AO v5 sells 3,146 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

QB Rebellion v5 sells 2161/930, total 3,091.

Jormungand v5 sells 2,958 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Tsuritama v5 sells 1683/1247, total 2,930.

Nazo no Kanojo v5 sells 2,287 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Natsuiro v4 sells 1,856 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

Tasogare Otome v5 sells 1,660 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

NakaImo v2 sells 1,615 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

KimiBoku2 v5 sells 595 DVDs, BDs do not rank.

Past seasons:
Gundam AGE v9 sells 1,455 BDs, DVDs do not rank.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Cardcaptor Sakura BD Box v1 sells 2,801. It's worth noting that this is the second time it's gotten BD boxes, but the first time was before we had access to BD sales numbers.

Aratanaru Sekai BD Box adds 2316 BDs, total 4,046. I can't even remember the last time I saw a release sell more in the second week than the first. That used to happen somewhat frequently half a decade ago or so, but it's almost unheard of now. That explains it jumping to #3 in the daily rankings earlier in the week.

It looks like Amazon Japan has updated Sword Art Online, Vol.2 (BD, DVD) product listing to include some sort of event ticket application.

EDIT:

Default Timeframe/amount saved from BD single release to BD-Box release

With the (seemingly) growing trend of more publishers re-packaging older shows into BD-Boxes, I was curious exactly how much people would save by waiting for one. Obviously for shows like Gosick you could expect to save a lot of yen by waiting for the box regardless of how long it took, but what about shows like CANAAN or Roukyubo? Since posts sometimes become difficult to find/edit after a while, and I'm usually on it due to translations, I made a spreadsheet on Google Docs that lists the shows in alphabetical order by publisher. Excluding the huge Gosick outlier, generally people only save 1,500 yen per month waiting after the final BD release. Not too much, especially for Geneon releases.

Continuing the line of event tickets in Aniplex BDs, Magi just announced an event for next April. You can apply for a ticket with purchases of either BD/DVD volume 1 or 2.

Default Re: Fall '12 Check-up

No particular catalyst for posting this other than oh god the election is tomorrow[*] and I can't possibly focus on work and really need something to occupy my mind other than refreshing poll aggregators 6,000 times a day, so, here's the current BD+DVD point totals for all Fall releases with at least 1,000 points racked up + current Stalker estimates. Most of which are totally premature to be looking at but they'll at least provide a way to tell if two titles with similar points are on similar of different trajectories of late.

Points taken as of 00:34 AM on 11/06 (JST).

Current points
Key: Total points (BD points / DVD Points) - Title
01) 5,971 (*,***/5,971) - Gintama Enchuusen (DVD-only)
02) 5,825 (4,730/1,095) - To LOVE-Ru Darkness
03) 3,797 (3,320/*,477) - Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai!
04) 3,696 (3,081/*,615) - Little Busters!
05) 3,534 (2,987/*,547) - Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken
06) 2,528 (2,084/*,444) - Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb
07) 2,451 (2,295/*,156) - Girls und Panzer
08) 2,043 (*,877/1,166) - Magi
09) 2,000 (1,474/*,526) - K
10) 1,678 (1,379/*,299) - Jormungand Perfect Order
11) 1,292 (1,040/*,292) - Psycho-Pass
12) 1,157 (*,622/*,535) - Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun

Not too surprising that Magi and of course Gintama are the only ones with DVDs topping BDs. Looks like the 2ch predictions of female support for Psycho-Pass have been a bust.

Current Stalker predictions
Key: Total prediction (BD prediction/ DVD prediction) [#Days left to release] - Title ▲▼change from current
01) 11,246 (*,***/11,246) [42] - Gintama Enchuusen ◄►

05) *9,453 (3,792/*5,661) [84] - Magi ▲3
06) *9,111 (8,611/**,500) [44] - Girls und Panzer ▲1
07) *8,188 (6,592/*1,596) [49] - Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb ▼1
08) *6,771 (5,529/*1,242) [49] - Little Busters! ▼4
09) *4,017 (3,178/**,839) [44] - Psycho-Pass ▲2
xx) *3,804 (1,610/*2,194) [51] - Kami-sama Hajimemashita
10) *3,367 (2,838/**,529) [44] - Jormungand Perfect Order ◄►
xx) *2,380 (2,006/**,374) [49] - Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankenai yo ne
11) *2,115 (1,556/**,559) [*0] - K ▼2
xx) *1,942 (1,305/**,637) [49] - Busou Shinki
12) *1,715 (*,909/**,806) [14] - Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun ◄►

I highlighted titles in red if they have a longer than average time left to release, as this gives them an uneven advantage in terms of Stalker predictions, which are based partly on time remaining until release. I very much doubt Jojo will actually sell more than Darkness, for example. Especially because Jojo was a fairly early solicit, though not as early as Darkness. Magi was a very late solicit, so its later release date isn't as much of an advantage.

K is the opposite, in that it's basically done getting points. Kaibutsu-kun is only 2 weeks away. All the rest are about the same, so they're somewhat better comparisons.

To illustrate the point, I added three more titles (KamiHaji, Oniai, Busou Shinki) that didn't make my 1,000 point threshold but still have superior estimates to one or both of those right now for. KamiHaji, matter of fact, is closing in on 4k predicted, split evenly enough that both formats should rank. It's been looking up lately, and if it's even a modestly storefront-biased title it could have surprisingly solid sales for a shoujo manga adaptation. It's definitely on track to beat Kaibutsu-kun or Sukinayo at least. However, first volume is heavily discounted (so is Kaibutsu-kun though).

Little Busters! is the big loser in terms of current vs predicted, dropping fully four spots and only one of those due to Magi's rise. If you look at its ranking graph on Stalker, it's easy to see why. It's just been downhill all the way since solicitation. Comparisons to Muv Luv are looking more reasonable with each passing day, but LB! has a long way to go and can turn around later.

TLR Darkness also takes a pretty big hit relative to its major point lead over Chuunibyou. Darkness has not trended downwards nearly as much as Little Busters, but it's been out of the Top 100 for a while now. It did so well early on that it probably won't hurt it though. For Amazon's monthly rankings in October, it was some 20 places ahead of Chuunibyou, although the gap is getting smaller and smaller. Chuunibyou is stubbornly sitting in that top 50 and refusing to leave, and good on it.

Naturally, some of these totals are unrealistic. DVDs will not chart for Jormungand, or Girls und Panzer at current pace, and may not for Psycho-Pass unless it keeps trending up, although it;s a late solicit so it may. The holiday season can have some nasty thresholds.

[*] Speaking of, due to this there's a small possibility I might not get the post done in the morning tomorrow, but it should be a somewhat slow week so I might have time. If not, it'll be up around 11AM EST I guess.

I don't exactly know what was between K-On! and Lawson (I suppose it's about merchandise), but it was a success.

Biggest wk2 BD yet + DVDs getting a wk2 again closes almost all of the Hyouka gap from last week, awesome.
Second week for Dog Days' is about what I expected, good. Still totally on par with season one.

Summer update:
Campione v2 sells 2608/1048, total 3,656. Honestly, not hurt much despite the discount and ticket for v1.

Sword Art Online v1 adds 2474/99, total 37,643. Right around IS territory. But can it be as consistent?

Horizon II v2 adds 2248, total 20,281. Very nice. Only about 600 less than s1v2wk2. Remarkable consistency.

Dog Days' v2 adds 664 BDs, total 8,147. For a comparison of how bizarrely close season one and season two match:
v1: 10,304 vs 10,520
v2: 8,134 vs 8,147
Pretty awesome.

Total Eclipse v2 adds 751 BDs, total 5,794.

Hakuouki v2 adds 512 DVDs, total 3,784.

Arcana Famiglia v2 adds 408 DVDs, total 2,123.

Spring update:
AKB0048 v5, final volume, sells 3055/948, total 4,003. Up 4.4% on v4. Final average: 4,885. So after a large drop from v1→v2, it stabilized at upper-average sales I guess.

KuroBas v4 adds 2101/2597, total 24,746. Smaller second week that v3 but with that monster first week it's still the best selling volume overall already. v3 was the best previously at 23,675 and it took 5 weeks to get there.

Hyouka v5 adds 1593/332, total 9,520. Its best second week yet, and overall the second best cumulative total in wk2. Even comparing wk2 BD numbers only (v1-3 didn't get second weeks on DVD), it's still better than v1-2. So much for dropping! Will hit a minimum of 9.8-9.9k in the monthly ranking, unless only the first two weeks get covered.

Accel World v4 adds 679 BDs, total 8,478.

Nyaruko-san v5 adds 746 BDs, total 6,416.

Eureka AO v5 adds 622 BDs, total 3,768. First time this show has gotten a second week, but it's still in line with the rest because we got monthly adjustments.

Past seasons:
SenColle v7 sells 763/1537, total 2,300.
v8 sells 683/1413, total 2,096.

Guilty Crown v10 adds 566 BD, total 6,160.

Aquarion Evol v7 adds 493 BDs, total 5,337.

Shin TeniPri v4 adds 1214 DVDs, tota 4,923. Still hurt by BDs not ranking last week.

OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Strike Witches movie adds 3686/870, total 38,540. Still sucks no REs ranked, but we should be hitting 40k soon.

No new v1s next week. After that, Fall starts with K.

Default September/October Monthly Rankings (Newtype)

http://uni.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/ani...1350802208/157

This appears to cover 9/03, 9/10, 9/17, and 9/24 like last time, but also 10/08 and 10/15. It's an oddly long reporting period.

What sucks about that is that it covers the first weeks of Yuru Yuri♪♪ v3 and Jintai v2, so we can't rely on the next Newtype ranking to give us extra data on those. With the first week outside the next reporting period they won't make it. Maybe the normal Oricon monthly for October will shed some light.

Haganai OVA +204 BDs, total 12,449.

KuroBas +v3 187 DVDs, total 21,255.

Dog Days' v1 +195 BDs, total 10,520.

Hyouka v4 +147 BDs, total 10,364.

Accel World v3 +198 BDs, total 8,932.

Tari Tari v2 +267 BDs, total 8,822.

Total Eclipse v1 +411 BDs, total 7,685.

HidaSketch Fandisc +193 BDs, total 6,336.

Guilty Crown v9 +446 BDs, total 6,334.

Having sales like that when the show as ended since a month and a half. It is doing over what I was expecting and this is a really good thing.
