Some of the points that I remembered: - YTV (A-DEC), YTVE, and a number of other Japanese animation companies banding together to form a new website (can't be revealed yet) - Website may kickoff sometime this fall - The idea is like YouTube with kickstarter - Classic shows (particularly ones that aren't currently licensed due to it been niche/obscure) to be streamed and fans can pledge money to an eventual DVD releases for U.S. and Canada - Won't be outsourced - Giant robot shows will likely be harder to acquire (particularly Go Nagai shows); magical girl shows may do better with model Last edited by WTK : 11-07-2012 at 07:32 AM. |

I actually just started to type how much I'd like to see this work out for Legend of the Galactic Heroes when Quarkboy mentioned that as something that probably wouldn't be licensed for the US. Maybe with enough money, though. I look forward to seeing what this ends up being like. I don't know if Cardcaptor Sakura is old enough to be streamed and be a candidate for a new license given the right funding, considering how much it costs to own it at this point. I'd definitely love to see there be a chance for those two, or at least get them streamed so people in America can actually see it legally (and not spend ridiculous money, as with the latter). Not a big fan of many older anime, but I'm definitely interested in the idea.

Well, this is an interesting idea. But, since I prefer recent shows over classic shows, (well, I do love some classic shows, i.e.: Utena) I don't think I'll be a part of it. I'll still be curious to follow it!

Not that much of a Giant Robot fan, some Magical Girl shows I'd be interested in, but shows like Hitari Ryoko I'd be all over.

This sounds like a really interesting project. I'm all for anything that can get more anime (especially niche stuff) up streaming legally. |

Giant robot shows? Magical girl shows?
I'd certainly vouch for that. ![]() Though the fact that the former will be harder to acquire doesn't exactly inspire too much confidence. Still hoping that site will be effective, though.
