Default Re: Currently Watching (Fall 2012 Edition)

Currently watching (episodes watched up to in brackets):

Outstanding
Yuru Yuri season 2 (finished)
Great series. I doubt we will see a third season though but you never know.

Very Good
None

Good
Aquarion Evol (8)
I'd like this better if Zessica was the female lead - she's more interesting. Mikono is like Love Hina's Naru and Maburaho's Yuuna without the violence. Then there's also Mix who is supremely annoying.

Average
Sankarea (finished)
Has some good bits and some nice Ranko fanservice. I have to dock massive points for Rea's creepy father - he ruins the whole show.

Below Average
None

Awful
Joshiraku (dropped)
The producers must have seen the success of shows with 4/5 moe girls like K-On and thought they just needed to put 5 moe girls and the show will be a big hit. This show was a complete bore - it's like going to a party and watching people gather around (and ignore you) while talking about the most mundane things.

Baka and test-s1 episodes 1-13end- Hilarious even with most of it being fan-service, it is really funny. I can't wait for season 2 LOL.

C control-episode 1-2 re-watch- Very enjoyable still.

Tiger and bunny EPISODE 6-not as good as other episodes I've seen.

Blue Exorcist-episode 6- Hilarious!

Initial D-P2-episodes 25-26- Pretty cool. Onto season 2.

Default Re: Fall 2012 Simulcast Watch List

I now have my simulcast lineup set for this season. Here are the shows that I am watching this season:

Watching:
Sword Art Online (Continuing from summer)
Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse (Continuing from summer)
Magi
Girls und Panzer
Pet Girl of Sakurasou
Robotics;Notes

On Hold:
Shin Sekai Yori
Psycho-Pass
Ixion Saga DT
Zetsuen no Tempest
Oniai
K
Btooom!

I will probably be revisiting some of the shows that I had put on hold due to the fact that fall is usually busy where I spend most of my free time watching football, plus I am usually quite busy at this time of year. Shin Sekai Yori was the last show that just missed the cut as I had put a hard limit of six shows to watch for the season, but I definitely plan on coming back to that show after the simulcast season. Since these are the shows that I have the most interest in (not necessarily the best shows of the season) that I went with those four new shows, in addition to Sword Art Online and Total Eclipse that are continuing from the summer season.

And I just finished watching Humanity Has Declined, and it was one very weird show. So many crazy thoughts are put into this show that is centered around nameless characters and things that just are not supposed to make any sense on purpose. Then all of this is happening in a pastel world, which just adds to the weirdness of the show. But all in all, it was very enjoyable to watch this show as it was funny to see the heroine going through all sorts of adventures to get along with the fairies. Since the summer season was quite loaded that this was the last show that missed the cut for my simulcast slate, but I made it a priority to return to this show whenever time permits.

Next up, I am planning to rewatch Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. Also on deck is Darker Than Black 2. Along the way, I will be watching Hellsing Ultimate episodes 5-8, as well as Children Who Chase Lost Voices.

I just finished watching the first season of Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, and this time I watched it consecutively watching the first five episodes straight, then the next four, and then the final four episodes. It made a huge difference as I was watching this show already fully familiar with all the characters, and stuff made a lot more sense this time around after watching it on streams while not quite sure exactly what is happening. Of course, the highlights for the show are the battles that happen in the last four episodes and the girls, and this show will test your patience as the prologue is pretty long, and does not make a lot of sense when watching it in a weekly format given the large cast of characters. Watching it again after seeing the second season made the experience much better.

Up next, I am currently watching more Hellsing Ultimate, and I also will watch Children Who Chase Lost Voices soon. The next series on tap is Sacred Seven.

I watched Children Who Chase Lost Voices just now, and it is another masterpiece by Makoto Shinkai, who is the master of making movies that involve characters needing to understand the meaning of life, and this one is no exception. It is a lengthy movie, and it involves a girl who is mostly alone because her father died and her mother is a workaholic, a widower who is researching to find the alternate world as a means to bring his wife back from the dead, and a boy who helps them with their journey through the world. The characters learn a lot about the world, and about themselves as well all while using elements of Aztec mythology to tell a nice story. This is certainly Shinkai's best work to date.

Up next, Sacred Seven is on tap. I also plan to watch the second Full Metal Alchemist movie, and up to episode 8 of the Hellsing Ultimate OVA.

I just finished watching Sacred Seven as this show is set to be removed from Crunchyroll pretty soon with Bandai's license expiring. It's a decent action show albeit too generic and lacks originality. While the action scenes are nice, this is a show that relies way too much on action and not enough story or depth was established. The artwork is nice and the character designs are also pretty good as well, which is typical of a Sunrise show. The music is just great as those things made the show worth my time. But at the same time, having a story with virtually no depth is why this show is easily written off. It begins being a monster-of-the-week, and it was not until the last three episodes when the story gets going, not enough time to really explain everything.

Next up, ef ~a Tale of Memories~ is the next show on my viewing slate. Hellsing Ultimate and the second Full Metal Alchemist movie are also on my to-do list.

Tiger and bunny EPISODES 7-8-Back to getting better. Lunatic is an awesome character villain.

His and her circumstances-episode 1-25- AWWWW. I love this anime this is one of the best Romantic comedys I've seen since Boys Over Flowers. I'll comment after the end of the last episode.

Code Geass season two-first disc re-watch- AWESOME! I forgot how good this series was and it is a good one to work out to because of the action :3

This is a Zombie-episodes 3-5- Hilarious although some of the girls get annoying particularly Sarah with calling Ayumu names.

His and Her circumstances- episode 26- This series was way too short to explain anything. It is sad that they didn't pick up a 2nd season. A wonderful series that is heart warming, dramatic, and has great comedy in it, but the lack luster ending was disappointing. Why are all the good shows cancelled or unfinished?
