Is it really that surprising? I figure most people intending to buy on DVD aren't averse to choosing both as the option because they might want to upgrade in the future (and in the case of a combo pack, they will already have it), or just want the option open to North American buyers in general even if they never intend to pick it up on Blu-ray.

Yeah, well AoA just proved that there's no guarantee that a DVD release will be cheaper at all, just look at The Garden of Sinners.
Either way, they release most of their stuff on BD so no real surprise, it will likely be an in-house BD LE set like Bake and DRRR. People that votes on such polls aren't likely to be any of the AoA haters on ANN who's hoping for a $30 release by voting DVD. Last edited by Nico87 : 12-16-2012 at 04:20 AM. |

Well, if you compare it with the MSRP of Kara no Kyoukai BD box ($598.98) it is quite cheaper.

i'd say it's pretty much par for the course, if you compare it with their 2-cour DVD releases (since the films are about the length of a 2-cour anime total) and (supposed) quality of packaging used.
Like the DRRR!! DVDs are a bit cheaper I believe, but while the packaging is nice it doesn't have as much going for it overall if you compare the two products. Then you have Blue Exorcist DVDs, which are incredibly cheap for AniplexUSA but also have much cheaper packaging and extras. Of course its still more expensive overall, but not by much; and that extra cost could just be attributed to packaging, external bonuses, and such. |

Yeah, but then again it's not comparable seeing as KnK BD was an import while pretty much everyone knows that SAO won't be!

Doesn't seem as though this has been posted, and I'm not honestly sure if this is even new, but AoA now has an official US website for SAO.

Per AoA panel, SAO is getting dubbed. Premiering March 30th @ Sakura-Con.

I wonder with SAO will get a similar release to Madoka Magica then? With 6 LE's and 6 Standards.
Perhaps with slightly less stuff in each of the LE's to make them cheaper. I wouldn't be surprised to see them do this. SAO is as popular as Madoka Magica was so i could see them doing the same sort of thing |
