Do those of you that import actually understand Japanese? I hope so because its alot more expensive to imports the majority of shows already licensed for English release.

Yes though I am still expanding my vocabulary on a daily basis.

Will list my LNs and manga later. Didn't know we listed those in this forum.

Most of the stuff I import doesn't really require knowing Japanese (concerts, CDs, artbooks, etc). My Japanese isn't great, but I can usually understand enough that I don't mind buying some anime movies or the occasional box set.

Nope, not really. Enough to get the gist of a simplistic drama CD at most, I guess, and only if I know the characters well and have a general idea of what they'd be talking about. But I can't/woudln't watch anime raw.

Watching and buying are two rather different activities for me. It's CR and fansubs for watching, imported BDs for owning and supporting the shows I love.

I'm also anti-R1 so whether it's licensed means nothing to me, and I wouldn't buy the localized releases anyway, as a rule.
