Conversation began in the Tamako Market solicitation thread but I'll do the reply here.

Hyouka is tougher to compare because it was solicited about a week before airing, though it was in the top 100 within 7 hours and top 30 soon after anyway, which is arguably the more impressive feat since it hadn't aired. Nichijou is harder still to compare since it was on and off Amazon for a few days before it final got a formal listing, so Stalker didn't start counting rank until nearly three days after its very first temporary appearance (it started out at #45 though). It can take 12+ hours after an episode airs airing for any real movement from that episode to be reflected even when it's been airing for a few weeks (Chuunibyou's jumps tended to be on a bit of a delay for example). I also feel like Chuunibyou had a bigger marketing push, especially putting out the Lite episode before the TV series started. But whatever the reason, and whatever the limited significance, Tamako isn't jumping into the top 100 as quickly as the past two KyoAni shows have. Yet for all we know it'll be equivalent there by tomorrow morning. I'm not worried right now. If it follows Chuunibyou's pattern of B&M sales at all, it'll significantly outperform Stalker's estimates anyway. I'm guessing the same sort of store extras will be lined up for this. Yep. Animate/Gamers/HMV/Tsutaya newly drawn boxes. I expect store front sales to be a good chunk of total sales. Again, I feel it's pointless to compare at first solicitation because 1. it's original this time where Chuunibyou had some novel readers, not to mention 8 months of pre-air advertisement compared to 6 weeks for Tamako and 2. anything can happen to raise/lower sale rates between now and March. Let's see what happens when we get more data, which will be skewed due to storefront effect.

I hope it's underestimated, because higher than expected sales are nice. Hyouka had generally been overestimated 20-30% per disc so far so it could go either way, but in terms of release specs Tamako matches Chuunibyou a lot more closely. I guess it'll be telling to watch HMV's rankings and see if it dominates there the way Chuunibyou did, once extras are announced. As a side note, hooray, I managed to catch the weekly data files on 2ch. I'll get started on adding full lists for the past two weeks asap.

The BD lists go to 100 now! And Oricon seems to track outside the top 100 now as well, because I see a 'last week' ranking for SAO v1 of 123. That's... friggin' huge. Monumental even. This is a major change for sales data followers. And it's going to make be a heck of a lot busier. ![]() But wow, awesome.

Full list is out, and the following was added. Original post has been updated accordingly. Also, um wow, the BD list goes to 100 in these two lists I've got. If that's a new thing for 2013, that's awesome. It's also going to make these posts take even incredibly longer. ![]() 2012 12/24~12/30 DVD List n/a 2012 12/24~12/30 BD List -- (*28) **9 *2,605 16,155 *2 Girls und Panzer v1 -- (*30) --- *2,515 *2,515 *1 Campione! v4 -- (*32) --- *2,231 *2,231 *1 Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankenai yo ne! v1 -- (*33) --- *2,184 *2,184 *1 Busou Shinki v1 -- (*34) --- *2,066 *2,066 *1 Kokoro Connect v3 -- (*35) *14 *2,027 12,375 *2 Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED BD Box v4 -- (*36) *19 *1,992 *9,911 *2 Kuroko no Basuke v6 -- (*38) --- *1,834 *1,834 *1 Natsu-iro Kiseki v6 -- (*40) *18 *1,768 10,054 *2 To LOVE-Ru Darkness v1 -- (*41) *10 *1,715 14,288 *2 Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! v1 -- (*44) --- *1,607 *1,607 *1 Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru! v4 -- (*45) *25 *1,603 *6,079 *2 Psycho-Pass v1 -- (*46) --- *1,592 *1,592 *1 Kami-sama Hajimemashita v1 -- (*49) --- *1,559 *1,559 *1 Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai! v4 -- (*50) --- *1,534 *1,534 *1 Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica v4 -- (*51) **7 *1,441 15,732 *2 Cowboy Bebop BD Box LE -- (*53) --- *1,402 *1,402 *1 Strike Witches 2 BD Box RE -- (*56) *17 *1,328 *9,864 *2 Tiger & Bunny Special Edition Side Bunny -- (*59) --- *1,300 *1,300 *1 Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate v4 -- (*62) --- *1,238 *1,238 *1 Upotte!! v5 -- (*63) --- *1,209 *1,209 *1 Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun v2 -- (*64) --- *1,199 *1,199 *1 Roukyuubu! It never deviated more than 46 copies. Uchuu Kyoudai v2 sells 932 BD boxes. It's being released in 16 DVD singles and 4 BD boxes. Medaka Box v6, final volume, sells 726 BDs, DVDs do not rank. I'm very happy for GirlPan and equally sad for Tonari. 1209 is nothing.
Would have been 1207 without me and hpulley! The (very) small pleasures in life.Dissapointed for KC as well but I guess it was to be expected. |

These look like BD thresholds from the old Bakemonogatari/K-ON! era... Sword Art Online looks like it's the first mega-hit that will benefit fully from the advantage of this new expanded data. Fall update: TLR Darkness v1 adds 427 BDs, total 12,409. Psycho-Pass v1 adds 397 BDs, total 7,659. Kamimashita v1 adds 322/718, total 5,787. Definitely better than the other two shoujo manga adaptations this season, though I prefer those over this (but I like all three. OniAi v1 adds 266 BDs, total 2,497. Summer update: Sword Art Online v3 adds 2009/713, total 34,444. v1 adds 333 BDs, total 43,434. v2 adds 351 BDs, total 38,497. Horizon II v4 adds 346 BDs, total 19,305. Hmm, 20k is going to be really close. Might take until mid-year list. Past seasons: Aquarion Evol v9, final volume, adds 311 BDs, total 5,509. Final average: 6,357 with all volumes ranking in both formats. OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc: Gundam SEED BD Box v4 adds 286, total 12,661. 01) ¥1356.6m (34,000 * ¥39,900) - Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu 02) ¥1009.7m (48,082 * ¥21,000) - Kidou Senshi Gundam SEED (4 parts: 11,457 + 11,491 + 12,473 + 12,661 03) ¥*927.7m (31,553 * ¥29,400) - Bakemonogatari Strike Witches 2 RE BD Box adds 347, total 1,749. 12) ¥*309.8m (*9,220 * ¥33,600) - Working!! 13) ¥*270.7m (*7,367 * ¥**,***) - Strike Witches 2 (Two pressings: 5,618*¥36,750 + 1,749*¥22,050) 14) ¥*230.1m (*5,768 * ¥39,900) - Fate/Stay Night
