Chieri was such a badass in this episode, and she did it mostly by talking (usually effectively telling them to shove it). And occasionally by kicking people.

There certainly where some interesting changes to the status quo and new plot teases in this episode. We now have an actual person to serve as a villain rather than just the entire Big Evil Authoritarian Government.

Also, Sonata when she was rescued and being carried off by Kanata. I HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG'ed hard.

Uh, I apparently didn't write a post at all about last episode, on either site. That's odd, usually its just missing because I did it on one and forgot to do the other (often because one site is down). Huh.

Anyway, Megu finally appears!

Nagisa and Chieri can apparently communicate by telepathy now.

And 10th place in the actual election is.... Mimori! And we'll have to wait until next time to find out who else makes it. I'd like them to go through the rest of them on-screen, but I'm guessing they won't and they'll skip to after everyone knows like they did in this episode.

Did not expect Mimori to rank so high in the election.

Really excited to see where they are going with this.

That certainly was a really good first episode for the second season. Let's hope the whole season will stay at this level. It was great to see everyone again.

At the very beginning, I thought "Man, wouldn't be awesome if they spent the entire episode on the results and speeches?" And then they did. And it was amazing. This will probably end up being not only one of the best episodes of the show, but one of the stand out episodes of the year.

It starts off with Mimori's speech, and wow, what an incredibly heartfelt speech. Absolutely amazing, after all her struggles, she finally makes it. Her shout out to Kanata was particularly inspiring and heartsting pulling.

Then it came time for Chieri. Holy shit, that was powerful in a completely different way. Rarely has a show so effectively conveyed how emotionally distressed someone was.

Also, she seemed to know ahead of time not only that she made it, but what spot she got.

Takamina and Yuuko got the last spots which was unsurprising, though for a brief moment I was worried they show might make the mistake of Nagisa getting first just from MC powers. Thankfully, the show didn't suddenly toss out all sensible narrative development. Takamina and Yuuko's speeches were more conventional and lacked the emotional weight of Mimori and Chieri's but still felt somehow almost as powerful.

And Kanata's face when she's cheering for Takamina cracked me up.

And then that montage and especially that Nagisa and Chieri scene at the end. Actually, Nagisa was pretty damn good this episode despite basically doing nothing. In fact, she's largely been on the backburner thus far, but I think this will end up marking when she really assumes the Main Character position and starts playing a more significant role in things.

On that note.... I wonder how long until most of the Successors get killed off? Something major is going to have to happen in order for all of the understudies to reach Successor status by the end of the show, and there's only about 8-9 episodes left. Unless there's a third season, which would be FUCKING AWESOME but also seems incredibly unlikely and I'll assume its only two until I actually see "See you in Final Stage" or it just seems absurdly unlikely that its actually supposed to end at episode 25/26.
