Because Morgiana is a better character in contrast. If they were to have the same personalities and Aladdin was a female it would make Morgiana less cool as there is another female in the cast which kicks just as much ass, and then people would have issues with Alibaba's role even more when he does most of the stuff and leaving both females to sit around and do very little. Or so I imagine that's how it'd go.
Plus I like Aladdin as he is. It's been a while since the world has had this kind of shounen protagonist. It's been a while since we've had this kind of shounen adventure really. It feels really "classic" somehow. And then there's an argument of "why does gender matter here? Would this same personality with a different look really improve things that much?" but that's a different thing entirely. |

Because shounen. ::shrugs:: I really like Aladdin, it's just Ali Baba I don't care for yet. Maybe he'll grow on me.
Morgiana will of course always be the best. And the show even seems like it isn't determined to make her useless as most shounen adventure anime would (yay!).
