We had so much fun at ALA weekend before last that we just couldn't wait to hit the road again. So, north to OhayoCon, taking place in Colombus OH, January 18th-20th, where cosplayers go to freeze in their finery for our first Midwest show of the year.

Funimation Clarifies Tenchi License

FUNimation Entertainment has confirmed with ANN that it does not, as previously stated, have the rights to all the titles in the Tenchi anime franchise.

The list of titles from the franchise that Funimation does have the rights to is:

• Tenchi Universe
• Tenchi in Tokyo
• Tenchi Muyo! OVAs (OVA series 1 & 2)
• Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki OVAs (OVA series 3)
• Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar
• Tenchi Muyo GXP
• Sasami: Magical Girls Club

When you say "they missed" the movies I guess you mean that somebody forgot to put the movies on the list, and not that Funimation missed getting the movies (which is how I first read it). Funimation did release the movies last month.

It seems like they do not have the Mihoshi and Pretty Sammy specials or Magical Project S, unless they were also left off of the list.

I meant the list either ANN and/or FUNimation provided had missed the Tenchi Muyo movies (of which was released in December on BD/DVD combo LE).

It only took how many years for FUNimation to clarify this (since AX 2010). Their stance prior to this was always we have all of Tenchi.

The Mihoshi and Sasami specials are dubbed and everything right? They should really snatch those up if they want to have "everything." I'd buy em, I've never seen either. Always seemed to be OOP.

The Pioneer release was dubbed.
I have that and I doubt that I would buy it again, but I think that Funimation should get it.

EDIT: Just to clarify, the Mihoshi Special and Magical Girl Pretty Sammy were dubbed. Magical Project S was not dubbed.

Regarding Dragon Ball Z on Blu-ray...in essence they're "waiting for technology to catch up" so they can continue remaster at not-crazy cost

5 months into the 2013 solicitations (10 new properties solicited thus far), FUNimation is off to a slow start comparing to 2012 (15 through May). It's pretty much too late for March and April have a late solicitation (for a new title). Would a late solicitation really surface for May (such as The Future Diary)?

Looking further ahead, the 2013 outlook right now includes virtually no license rescues. The only unreleased license rescues are Akira and Pretear. Is FUNimation really banking on a heavier release schedule on the second half of the year (particualrly the last couple months of the year)?
