HD remastered Blu-ray box release of popular anime "Shojo Kakumei Utena (La Fillette Revolutionnaire)" broadcasted in 1997. Includes the first 24 episodes (from a total of 39 episodes), new illustration by mangaka Chiho Saito, digipak and booklet.

- BD-Box 2

Second HD remastered Blu-ray box release of popular anime "Shojo Kakumei Utena (La Fillette Revolutionnaire)" broadcasted in 1997. Includes episodes 25 through 39 (out of a total of 39 episodes) as well as the theatrical anime "The Adolescence of Utena"! The additional disc comes with musical comedy version (60mn), Art board, opening theme of Sega Saturn game, opening and ending of anime without credit, TV spot, PV, karaoke etc. Jacket was illustrated by mangaka Chiho Saito and character designer Shinya Hasegawa. Includes a booklet.

The main question for Utena on BD is whether the rather severe aliasing in the DVD remaster is present. The answer is that yes, there is aliasing, but not nearly as severe as the DVD. On the plus side, little in the way of grain reduction to be seen. So, not as good as it could be, but still by far the best version that exists. A little disappointing, but pretty much what was expected.

Things look less blurry, and I like the grain. ^^

Something else to consider buying... Do I quadruple-dip?

Thank you kindly for posting those shots, hissatsu! I expect my copy to be here by Friday, at the latest, so I'm terribly glad to know that the improvement to the video is so significant.

Admittedly, my wallet is gonna be screaming at me for the next coupla months, but it was simply not in me to resist such an event. And this after fretting and trying to stay current on information about the release since October; I only really decided to take the plunge a week ago...

You know, it's funny; the first person I showed these screen comparisons to (a major consumer of JP games), is of the opinion that the BD release should further be celebrated by having the Sega Saturn game re-released, as an HD port, for the PS3. I'll go with that.

Seems no one's mentioned this, but the movie does have English (and Japanese) subs, like the DVD remaster release did. It's the CPM script, as expected, though it's not really very different from the Nozomi script, mostly difference in translation for specific terms..
