A very nice group shot for a collection release. It's about time the other leads got proper cover shots. I wonder what the second collection will have. Maybe a different shot of this group, or of some villains? Or maybe just Natsu focus.

Just like the inside of collection 1's cover, so no surprises there. I wonder if FUNimation are re-releasing these collections in preparation for season 2's release. Will pass though as I own the original collections of these.

I really like the group shot we have here. It works quite well, nicely done.

I was going to purchase this until I discovered that it's yet again, another Bluray/DVD combo pack. I would never, and will never buy those. I avoid them like the damn plague. Why can't they just release a simple collection? Why does it always have to be a BD/DVD set? This is seriously disappointing.

Funimation released the Soul Eater collection on Blu-Ray and it didn't come with any stupid DVD's. Why can't they do the same for Fairy Tail?

Probably because Soul Eater is 51 episodes. Imagine how much it would cost, and the size of the product is that was a DVD/BD combo. You'd be looking at at 16 disc set!
This Fairy Tail set is only 24 episodes. That's only (I'd imagine) 4 BD discs and 4 DVD discs.
Much more manageable.
Also, Fairy Tail is an upscale (and a poor one at that), so I imagine a separate BD-only release wouldn't sell all that well as a standalone if the customers knew this information.
Also, at around $30 for this at Rightstuf.com, you can't complain really for what you are getting.

It'd actually probably be a 13-14 disc set.

Which really doesn't change all that much, but still.

Your not paying any less if Funimation did not included the DVD. I actually prefer the DVD with the BD (More flexibility).

The bottom line, money. For Funimation, they save money when releasing out combo packs for 12-26 episodes sets.

It will most likely be only 3 BD discs. That's if they reauthor the discs, which they commonly do.
