Yeah, that's kinda where my rambling went. ^^;;

I'm not sure what value the English commentaries can add to Railgun. I'm definitely not saying that all Japanese commentaries are terribly informative, either (although they at least might have the creative people involved), but since I rarely get to understand what's being said in those, I don't know what their usual information/fluff ratio is.

To be fair, I learned a lot about the mentality at Funimation from their director/screenwriter commentary on Ookami-san. While Japanese cast commentaries tend to be fluff similar to the Eng. commentaries I've heard (for the most part, TGwLtT did have an interesting set of commentaries), at least they were present for the making of the show. English commentary tracks seem out of place since they just add an audio track to the show and weren't present for the actual production.

Somewhat on topic, I should listen to the Railgun JP commentaries now that my Japanese is better than it was in 2010.

Yeah, that's more or less how I feel. Those producing the Japanese commentaries were involved in the creation of the show, whether as cast or crew, while the English-speakers are generally just _there_. IIRC, the ADV commentary for an episode of Le Chevalier d'Eon provided historical context info, which is about the only useful sort of thing that the American companies might be able to do with a commentary. That, or find someone who is really knowledgeable about a franchise or its background/context, like it sounds ?Funi? did with some part of Hetalia (I'm going off of vague memories of a few comments that I saw for that one, since I have no interest in the series, so maybe that was an extra, rather than a commentary).

It's 100% incorrect listing. I'm just re-posting this from TFP.

This is the regular edition DVD release for Part 1. The UPC matches up as well: 704400067556. It's just another botched Amazon listing and nothing unusual.
