4 (?) TBA licenses from the Shojo Beat imprint of VIZ Media. Katsucon is this weekend, though VIZ won't be present. Either these will be announced online, or they'll wait until Sakura-Con (March 29-31). Update: Quote:
---- I should also mention, there was rumor that Ohtaka Shinobu's Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic manga has been licensed by VIZ Media UK. They recently licensed the anime (which is licensed by Aniplex of America in the US), but there has been no announcement by either branch for a manga license. According to the source, which I'm unable to verify how trustworthy it is, the news was leaked via a spreadsheet sent out from VIZ Media UK detailing the manga releases for 2013 and evidently confirmed. The confirmation method remains unstated/unknown, so please do keep in mind this is speculation/rumor until officially confirmed. VIZ Media UK, from what I understand and have been told, releases manga only licensed by the US branch. That is to say, a manga licensed by VIZ Media (UK) can only be imported/released if the license is owned/held by VIZ Media (US). Interesting news, to say the least. I've often said I expected to see the manga licensed, and the anime has garnered decent fan support and clout recently. I do believe this has the potential to essentially be VIZ's next "Blue Exorcist" as far its success may be considered. If true, this would be the first Shonen Sunday (VIZ's imprint for Shogakukan's Weekly Shounen Sunday series) license since 2009. Last edited by ToAruOni : 02-14-2013 at 12:42 AM. |

This ANN news article says that Viz will be publishing a "My Neighbor Totoro" novel in English.
It was written by Tsugiko Kubo. I have not been able to find anything else that he or she has written. (I am assuming that this is not an alternate spelling of "Tite" Kubo ).The illustrations are by Miyazaki. Even though this is a children's book I like My Neighbor Totoro enough that I want the book.

This could be an interesting read. Well, I hope the translation will be well done. If it is, I will have an eye on it.

I'll now be posting solicitations in their respective publisher threads and keeping a catalog of releases for the year in single posts (linked in the opening post).
07-GHOST, volume 8 | January 14, 2014 | VIZ Media | $9.99 | Amazon Case Closed, volume 49 | January 14, 2014 | VIZ Media | $9.99 | Amazon Excel Saga, volume 27 | January 14, 2014 | VIZ Media | $9.99 | Amazon ----- As far as I know, no. Lately VIZ has been moving their OOP volumes over to the VIZManga digital app, rather than just reprinting select series/volumes. |

SuBLime announced today they have acquired Yamane Ayano's Crimson Spell manga series. The title was previously published under Media Blaster's Kitty Media adult-orientated line, which released the first 2 volumes. SuBLime will start releasing the series in December, with v2 following in February 2014, v3 in April 2014 and v4 in June 2014.

A few new things popped up on Amazon UK yesterday.
First and foremost, Nisekoi, volume 1 is solicited for a December 5, 2013 release (thanks to Hououin91 for the find & tip!). VIZ is already releasing this digitally (per volume) and releasing it weekly in its Weekly Shonen Jump digital magazine. It had been hinted prior, but now we have solid confirmation that a physical release is on its way! Also something I took notice of were these two solicitations: Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning - Side A Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning - Side B These are two, currently unannounced, manga adaptations of the movie(s). Interesting about this is that they're published by Kadokawa Shoten. Looks like VIZ had to pull some strings for this one, though not too surprising given how popular Tiger & Bunny is/was. |
