We got Grave of the Fireflies solicited by Sentai Filmworks today. Plus Japan solicited Kiki's Delivery Service and Only Yesterday.

That leaves these Ghibli releases unreleased in Japan. It would not surprised me if all of them (not too sure about Ocean Waves) gets Blu-ray releases in Japan next year. If that happens, U.S. will be even further behind on these BD releases.
  • Porco Rosso (1992)
  • Ocean Waves (Special) (1993)
  • Pom Poko (1994)
  • Princess Mononoke (1997)
  • Spirited Away (2001)
  • The Cat Returns (2002)

Still amazed that Spirited Away and Mononoke haven't seen a release yet. Still looking forward to Porco most though.

Since none of those three are included in the December round of releases in Japan, it'll be a while... There aren't too many titles left, so at least one of them should be in the (presumed) Summer 2013 releases.

Of the remaining 6 titles, I cant see them releasing Spirited or Mononoke together at the same time. So of the remaing 4, Porco would be the next biggest title. They tend to release 2 titles at a time... So I figure one from Group A & B...

Group A
Porco Rosso
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away

Group B
Ocean Waves
Pom Poko
The Cat Returns

Is Howl's Moving Castle & My Neighbor Totoro really coming up next?

Interesting find. UPC is 786936833409. Rakuten.com (formerly Buy.com) lists as a "Blu-Ray DVD" with a release date of 2/12/2013 (current "Temporarily Sold Out") and the same MSRP.

Rakuten.com also have a listing for My Neighbor Totoro. UPC is 786936833539 with MSRP of $39.98. If you search this UPC on Amazon, you get active DVD listing (with same MSRP) that's "Temporarily out of stock" and no release date.
EDIT: Rakuten.com Howl's listing has become a pre-order listing with a release date of 5/21/13. Rakuten.com's Totoro listing has also become a pre-order listing but with a placeholder date of 1/1/2050.

Amazon has removed the listings completely for Howl's Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro.

Rakuten.com's two listings are still up. Both now say "Format: Blu-Ray DVD" and "Release Date: 5/21/2013".

EDIT: and both up @ Amazon.com now
- Howl's Moving Castle
- My Neighbor Totoro

With the latest pairing (Howl's Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro), the only other Ghibli release slated for Fall 2013 is From Up on Poppy Hill (via GKids, distributed by New Video Group).

Looking further ahead for 2014 (unless Disney magically speeds their releases up), the possible pairing could be Kiki's Delivery Service and Tales From Earthsea. It's not looking very good for My Neighbors the Yamadas. And after that there is Only Yesterday...we know Disney won't be touching that.

So as of right now we are four titles behind Japan. But when 2013 is over, we will be further behind once again. It will be interesting to see what gets released (from below) in Japan.
  • Porco Rosso (1992)
  • Ocean Waves (Special) (1993)
  • Pom Poko (1994)
  • Princess Mononoke (1997)
  • Spirited Away (2001)
  • The Cat Returns (2002)

I will just add this here...

via Blu-ray.com forums - someone asked GKids about Only Yesterday and its home video possibility.
Quote:
Disney does not own home video rights to Only Yesterday. Studio Ghibli has them, and it will eventually see the light of day in North America.
