Default New Idolm@ster games for PSP

Three new Idolm@ster games going to be released on the PSP. Source - Andriasang

Just like the first title released on the PSP, this one will be also split into three parts. The article notes it'll be a rhythm action game (I wonder what the action part is going to be).

  • Honey Sound: Chihaya Kisaragi, Haruka Amami, Ritsuko Akizuki and Azusa Miura
  • Funky Note: Yayoi Takatsuki, Hibiki Ganaha, Iori Minase, Ami & Mami Futami
  • Groovy Tune: Miki Hoshii, Yukiho Hagiwara, Makoto Kikuchi Takane Shijou

I'll probably pick up all three and most likely play Groovy Tune ALOT (unless the song selection sucks). Takane is definitely the odd one out in that set.

What a strange (and entirely coincidentally I'm sure profit-maximizing) way of divvying them up!

So how long before they add DLC for every single Cinderella Girl?

Courtesy of kijakusai from TFP:

I like the fact that the game is using the iM@S2 character designs and the 3D models look much nicer than the original PSP games (then again, iM@S2 did look a lot better than iM@S1).

Of course! They could have easily released one version on the Vita, but with the PSP each UMD disc can only hold like 1.4GB of data. Quite possible the full game is larger than that.

The game does look fun, but the idols with instruments? I do hope the game is fun and there is a good balance between playability and difficulty. I really dislike other Japanese rhythm games which degrade into hand-eye coordination games as it gets harder.
