Sword Art Online Dub

A dub for SAO has been confirmed at the Aniplex live panel. The dub will debut at Sakura-con on March 30.

As expected, dub will be coming from Bang Zoom.

And it looks like Alex Von David will be directing (LINK).

Obvious but good to have confirmation. Bang Zoom! is easily my favorite LA studio at this point. And more importantly, I'm very glad to see Alex directing this one. That makes me very confident about how the dub will turn out. Tony is great too, but I think I may have even more faith in Alex at this point.

No surprise there that Bang Zoom is dubbing this considering all of Aniplex's dubs have gone there. The bigger question is whether or not it will be union or not. Seeing how shows with a large cast of children like this one is tend to be non-union that I think that it will likely go non-union

Aniplex US to release anime based on Reki Kawahara's light novels in N. America

Aniplex of America announced at Sakura-Con on Saturday that Bryce Papenbrook (Blue Exorcist's Rin Okumura, Durarara!!'s Masaomi Kida) will voice the role of Kirito and Cherami Leigh (Fairy Tail's Lucy Heartfilia, Shakugan no Shana's Shana) will voice the role of Asuna in the English dub of Aniplex's release of the Sword Art Online television anime series. Aniplex is premiering the dub at Sakura-Con on Saturday...

Oh wow, I didn't realize Cherami had done anything in LA. That's definitely very cool for the long run. I hope she can continue to be as active in both FUNimation and Bang Zoom! dubs. And Bryce gets another lead. I haven't heard much of the Blue Exorcist dub since I don't have Neon Alley, so his Masaomi comes to mind more than anything else when I see this. I have a lot more faith in Alex as a director than Kristi, though, so I'll hope for the best.

It was only a matter of time before Cherami showed up in an LA dub since she has been doing lots of work there. She has a small role in Blue Exorcist, but this makes her presence known in that region.

Alex fills out the "harem" with Madoka leads. Should work well enough. Unfortunately the video won't play, but hopefully I'll be able to hear some of this soon. I already heard Patrick as Agil and he's good as always, but the stereotypical "black guy voice" he used may take a little getting used to.

Okay, it finally worked for me. Obviously I'm less sure about whose voices I'm hearing with the small amount of dialogue a trailer has, but here's what I've got for now:

Klein - Kirk Thornton (especially unsure about this considering he talks for no more than one second)
