Hmm, http://www32.atwiki.jp/hdorsdorcel/ lists S1 as a digital/analog hybrid. I wonder how much was digitally animated. Been a long time since I watched any of it, and it's from that period where a lot of shows were cel-based with digital enhancements or digitally animated OP/EDs (like a lot of AIC shows from the period).

Saw a commercial for the BD box, and it didn't look like an upscale to me. I didn't see it on my main setup though, so it might've just been a really good upscale.

Now that looks like an upscale, so I might've been wrong in my previous post. I guess I shouldn't judge based on a TV commercial viewed on my friend's TV unless it's really obvious. But going by a 720p Youtube video isn't any better, of course.
