Default Number of books by publisher

This count of the books that I have from each manga publisher was originally done for a thread in the ANN manga forum.
I was surprised that I have so many from Tokyopop, especially since it has been so long since they published anything. I guess that they were my favorite publisher when they were in business, even though I did not realize it.
I am not surprised that I have so many from Viz. Not only are they stiill publishing a lot of books but they have released all of Rumiko Takahashi's titles, and I have bought all of them.
Here are the numbers:

382 Tokyopop
350 Viz
110 Del Rey/Kodansha Comics
81 Yen
72 Seven Seas
61 Dark Horse
59 ADV
45 CMP
45 Comics One/DrMaster
35 Icarus
31 CMX
15 Eros
13 Bandai
6 Infinity Studios
5 DMP
5 Media Blasters
4 Broccoli
4 Udon

I also have about 125 comic book editions from Viz. I did not include them in the count.
I am very disorganized so I am sure that I missed a few things.
I did include novels in the count, mostly because it would have been too much trouble to sort them out.
I counted each omnibus edition as one volume, just because it was easier that way.
In addition to the English books I have 64 Japanese imports. Most, but not all, of them are hentai. That number does not include doujinshi. If I counted them the total would be well over 200.

Well, why not!

Viz Media - 79 - 34.20%
Yen Press - 64 - 27.71%
TOKYOPOP - 38 - 16.45%
Del Rey - 35 - 15.15%
ADV - 8 - 3.46%
Kodansha Comics - 7 - 3.03%

Yearly:

2009 - 47 - 20.35%
2010 - 134 - 58.01%
2011 - 28 - 12.12%
2012 - 22 - 9.52%

Yen Press is and always will be my favorite for reasons you probably know.

It looks like 2010 was quite a year for me...

Mine

Domestic:

Viz Media: 191 manga + 1 animanga + 1 novel + 1 databook + 5 artbooks
Vertical Inc.: 68 manga + 1 advance proof manga
Dark Horse: 56 manga
Yen Press: 35 manga + 15 novels
Seven Seas: 21 manga
Del Rey: 12 manga
Kodansha Comics: 11 manga
Tokyopop: 4 novels
Digital Manga Publishing: 2 manga

Yen Press has a pretty good chance of jumping ahead to #2 this year depending on when TRSI has its sales, due to how much I have backlogged to get for them.

Imports:

Kodansha: 10 manga + 5 bilingual manga + 1 guidebook
Shikigensha: 3 artbooks
Shueisha: 1 promo manga + 1 guidebook + 1 pop-up book
Shogakuken: 1 manga
Kadokawa: 1 manga
Square Enix: 1 manga

neither of these lists include stuff on order

You even have a source to prove it! It gives me the chance to say: Yen Press you know what I want, right? You know what would make you even more the best of the best, right?

Here are my numbers/estimates. I didn't check every title to see what company it actually came from, but I think I got most of them right. I also included some of the comic sized manga based on their bound form. I didn't include Animerica Extra, Pulp, Shonen Jump, Raijin Comics, Super Manga Blast.

Viz 2003
Tokyopop 287
Dark Horse 325
Del Rey/Kodansha 172
Yen 95
Vertical 39
CMX 70
Seven Seas 20
Other 182

I also have a few novels like the Kieli novels from Yen and novels from Haikasoru (Viz)

I've been purchasing Viz titles since they were first released and have been able to buy them direct from their distributor for 7-8 years now, so those numbers are much higher than the others. Plus they publish a lot more.

Yearly
2007 = 315
2008 = 267
2009 = 281
2010 = 330
2011 = 234
2012 = 302
2013 = 40
